Pools were the better team for me for the whole of the game. It's winning this type of game that will determine our season, the teams that are going to be in and around us.

We should have gone in at half time in front, Humphreys had a glorious chance in the first half when a mistake from their defence and a back pass played to short allowed him to go one on one with the 'keeper. Only for him to place it horribly wide and over. He could have had a hat trick in the first half, but the other two were only half chances one which he put straight at the 'keeper.

Second half once again bit dour to be honest but Pools still the better team, an effort from Liddle hit the post one cleared from the line and as we entered the last 15 minutes I commented that it had 0-0 written all over it.

A badly taken corner by McSweenie ended up being put out for another corner which he swung over better the second time for their 'keeper to punch into the net to give us the goal.

After that they still didn't really threaten and Kean had one save to make(his only one of the night at that) which he parried out. He had one of the quietest nights he'll probably ever have with only a couple of crosses to claim and an easy header from Thomas Moore in the first half which was straight at him and no power.

They never bothered us, the players seemed determined to get over the defeat on Saturday and worked hard all night, nothing spectacular but a performance that ground out a valuable three points.
