Allez les bleus! Mr Capello needs to be aware that his team were humbled by probably the weakest French squad in years. Fatto!

Concurring.

Blanc has properly cleared out the deadwood instead of just talking about it.

Barry? Lescott? Walcott? Foster? Gibbs? Internationals? You're having a laugh.

Bollocks. If France had taken last nghts team to the world cup instead of the old codgers with attitude I'm pretty sure they'd have done a lot better. refred

Ratings for last night?

Foster- 3- Apart from the goals he had very little else to do, which meant he did very little else right.
Jagielka- 5- Better at centre half than full back.
Gibbs- 3- I don't get all the hype with this guy. Second time I've seen him try and play full back for England and second time he's looked shite, he has the positional sense of smackhead in the jobcentre.
Ferdinand- 6- Ok.
Lescott- 2- How does he get a game? Is it an equal opportunities thing?
Walcott- 2- Good against shite teams, shite against good teams who know how to defend.
Barry- 1- International my arse. He's slow, he can't pass and he can't tackle. It's akin to watching Sam Collins try and play as a midfielder.
Gerrard- 6- Average.
Henderson- 6- Not a bad debut but difficult when a lot of the other midfielders are bobbins.
Milner- 5- Not quick enough to play wide at international level, improved a bit in central midfield.
Carroll- 6- Encouraging debut but suffered from poor service. Would be more effective with a quick forward beside him to run onto his flicks.
Richards- 7- Did well when he came on. A better bet at full back than Jagielka or Glenn Johnson.
Johnson- 6- Should've started, did ok when came on and will get better.
Young- 6- Same as Johnson
Warnock- 5- Ok but nowt flash
Bothroyd- 5- As per Warnock
Crouch- 6- Took goal well, not much time to do a lot more.
Capello- 5- Good points, giving debuts to Carroll and Henderson, bad points, picking the likes of Lescott, Barry and Walcott.

I've seen quite a few of the French team playing against Toulouse, who are a mid-table side, and they haven't looked anything special because everyone here knows how important it is to keep the ball. The French team must have been chuffed to bits when they realised that if Lescott or Jagielka have got it you just have to contain them and they'll hoof it back to you.

Even Gourcuff, who I enjoy watching, can be stifled by close, dogged, man to man marking. The commentators kept talking about England pressing but he regularly received the ball, turned and played a pass without anyone getting within five yards of him.

The only thing I would add is that Blanc seems to be looking ahead and developing a good idea of what his preferred team is. You can't really say that about Capello, if the established players aren't available he gets the pin and blindfold out- Jay Bothroyd?
