Another demotion came in 2003 and while they did bounce back to the Championship in 2003 they could not return to the level their fans, history and stadium demanded.

2003.......not quite. sctatchinghead 2005 and how many of them (and us) would think that we would meet again

Administration.....bring it on clappp

Wendies in the winding up court the same day as a company called "Ready Steady Pay" - guess neither of them did.
And the Celtic Crusaders

They appear to be going to ask for an adjournment. I hope that idea gets chucked out.

Why is everybody seem so please that Sheff Wed potentially are going into admin?

Is it because they beat us at Cardiff?
Is it because they are a founder member of the Premiership?
Another reason?

I think it's strange / unfair that they got a talented squad (relatively) with big earners, at a time when they're massively in debt. However, I still sympathise with there supporters, as much as I would with any other club (ok - there are 1 or 2 clubs I wouldn't lose sleep over)

Because if they get docked points it will make it harder for them to finish above us, serve them right for over spending, they have a superiority complex, Carlton Palmer, Chris Turner and because they robbed us at Cardiff........

and I don't like them.

I think any club who lives way beyond their means like Sheffield Weds are deserve everything they get. They were still signing players who are probably on very good contracts even though they blatantly can't afford it.

I hope they rot in hell

No one would have sympathy for me if i got in shit loads of debt yet was still buying flash cars and clothes whilst clearly not paying my debts off.

So i dont know why footy clubs should get away with it.

Serves them right.

The likes of Clinton Morrison and Neil Mellor won't be playing for pennies so why should they be allowed to sign players that they, or other teams in our division, can't afford? They deserve everything that they get.

Oh, and I believe that they were part of the Premiershit bandwagon too.

Why do firms still deal with these clubs? I would only supply the likes of Wednesday on a cash only basis.
And, more importantly, why do the Inland Revenue allow them to amass huge debts?

They will ask for an adjournment today and the soft arsed judge will grant them one. Brinkmanship of the highest order.
For me the solution is simple..........pay your way or go under. I'm sure that any of us would be treat like that, so why not Wednesday????????????

Suppose its similar to that preganant lass on benefits who was still buying cigarettes and lottery scratch cards!

They had no money yet still kept signing players on big wages. Its their own fault and no one elses, if you cant run a football club correctly then its no more than they deserve.

Also funny as fuck cos Turner thought he was going to be getting a cushy job  Clearly the blokes behind the takeover bid with him have no friggin money

Feel a bit sorry for Russ Green mind but sure he will find a job at another club quick enough.

Thanks for the responses. I understand the overspending bit, I just thought that the tone of the thread was more sinister and had something to do with Cardiff.

Apart from ed-t-ball this seems not be be the case. I can't recall this level of cheerfulness when Portsmouth were facing the abyss

Not a single tear would've left my eye had Portsmouth gone busto for similar reasons as above.

derwent - This was my point. Are Sheff Wed just another club to are the fans taking so much delight, or are they now arch rivals for them i.e Southampton to Portsmouth

The case was started but Judge called lunch saying that he wanted more time to consider his decision.
Looks like he may not cave in to the adjournment plea, but I still think that is the way he'll go.

Aye and in the meantime they're up again early next month also for tax evasion............its a bloody farce.......they're taking the piss and the rest of us have to foot the bill caused by the shortfall in tax revenue.

Its an absoulte joke "The judge said the south Yorkshire club was trading insolvently and he was only allowing the extension because of exceptional circumstances"

What are these circumstances? They have been floating with this for the last couple of month have has already "done a deal" on the money they owe, how many more chances do they want.

It's even more irritating when you consider us and Billy Town have been at loggerheads over a sum of money that pales into insignificance when compared to what Sheff Wed are in court for.

No doubt they'll get let off, for the third time this season!

I think the rest of League 1 (or at least the clubs who have played them) have every right to be hacked off over this considering, as Chip has pointed out, that they have been using players who they clearly can't afford.

I'd take all 24 points off them let alone the standard deduction for going into admin.
