Nicked shamelessly from the Brighton board.

Think I'll go with Luton in England and Glasgow in Scotland.

Horrible, grotty, depressing places. There is also one of the towns in the collieries that is equally as bad but I won't mention it incase I offend someone!

Rhyl in Wales closely followed by Flint.

Isle of Arron in Scotland, lovely place to look at but nothing there but one road going round it and sheep. Its like Holy Island but sleepier.

London without a doubt.

The biggest magnet for all that is horrible in Britain. Full of greedy bastards, theiving bounders, rude fookers, too much traffic, shit housing, decay and neglect everywhere, everything is a rip-off and the majority of the media is based there.

There's lots of other towns and cities that aren't particularly pleasant, but I don't think it's fair to name them because it's not the fault of the people who live in them. London in my eyes is populated by people who choose to live or work there.

Luton has to be up there, worked there and the walk to my hotel was one of the most depressing experiences I ever had. Rhyl and Prestatyn are crap and I really find Blackpool depressing.

Another close to home, Easington. Parts of it look like it's had a recent visit from the Luftwaffe.

Heading north from Croydon on the train and just before the station at Selhurst, there's abig triangular wasteland of rail tracks and there was a white leather three piece dumped in the middle of it, whoever got it there deserves a medal for ingenuity.

As far as Town Centres go, it's got to be Billingham. Pigeon-shite covered 1968 hell-hole. Even the Charity Shops are shutting down.

I never chose to live/work in London, it was the last place that I would have wanted to live and I was living in Hull at the time! After 4 years on and off the dole I got a job offer for a permanent job in London, take it or leave it.

Don't disagree that it's a sh*thole full of w*ankers but it's harsh to blame the many people who come here for jobs for a situation that existed long before they ever set foot in the place.

Gillingham has to be up there with Luton, surely?

when we played at Accrington a few years back, we got the train from Bolton to Accrington via Blackburn. The area was like stepping back in the 60's / 70's. Don't get me wrong, it was a top day out but I have no intention if visiting for any other reason than to watch pools.

having lived more than 20 years in london, some bits - like Tooting Bec as Chip says - are really not that bad. But there again I used to live in Blackhall Rocks....

If you mean worst places where football grounds are then surely Anfield in Liverpool has got to be the worst.

Other than that I vote for Luton or Walsall. Come to think of it I've never seen a nice bit of Birmingham...

Stayed at Stirling overnight on way to Fort William a few years ago to break up the journey with the kids in the car and was dead disappointed, proper shit hole, reminded me of Peterlee but with fewer Greggs.

Shame cos the Castle and William Wallace monument are stunning and it's steeped in history with Bannockburn near by which Peterlee does lack.

Bloody shit hole.

Fleetwood was a bit rough for the Cup game 08', parked in a street near the ground and noticed a kiddies pedal car up on bricks..

...it also had a side stand which had the original old stand still standing right behind it. sctatchinghead

Great Yarmouth is grim, I go there for a pick-me-up when Lowestoft seems bad.
Berwick upon tweed, not bad, just weird.

Workington always seemed to as bad as it ever gets. And I haven't been for a while, i.e. 15 years, but the last time I was in Easington Lane 2 smackheads tried to steal my, crap, car when I was in the chippie. The chippie on the main street. At lunchtime.

In no particular order my top ten.

Ardrossan, a run down version of a town that took all the good bits of Belle Vue and the Central Estate and threw them away then got the people left addicted to Irn Bru and Smack washed down with Tennants Super.

Lowestoft, the whole place looked closed even when open.

Maryport, just very very shite.

Hull, should need no explanation, especially the bits that have literally no english speaking residents.

Rhyl, where scousers go for rehab I think.

Liverpool, apart from some shiny bits in the town centre its as scummy as anywhere could be and the residents seem keen to live up to the image of all scousers being criminals.

Blackpool, seriously I know its a great place for getting pissed and leering at drunken tarts but have you actually looked at the place on a weekday in January?

Thornaby, in reality Stockton's very own dumping ground a place with no identity and no hope because none of the big towns want to admit it exists.

Stoke, only spent a day there but it has more thugs looking for a fight than a Millwall supporters bus.

Edinburgh, especially its council estates where it is the done thing to spit at outsiders and throw stuff at their cars.

Having lived in Hull & Liverpool as stoodent I've lived in some rough bits of both cities but cracking people in both.
They're both fairly insular for big cities but plenty to do & both sports mad places.
London- pretty shyte south of the Thames these days but some bits to the North ain't too bad.

For a while I lived in Reading after me Da got made redundant & we moved down there. Wannabe cocknies, most of them, but mainly just cocks. Prefer Londoners anyday.

Some really pretty but twee places in Berkshire but Slough, Bracknell etc can be dog rough.
Not how we think of the affluent South- East

Don't know about the collieries -usually great people & at least you've got the coast.
Some weird places way out West like Cockfield, Evenwood etc in Co Durham.

Maryport gets a mention above - The West Cumbrian towns are like stepping back a couple of decades. They all seem to be dying on the bones of their arse.

Don't get me started on Wales- You think North Wales is bad go & see some of the smaller places in the South.
No don't-they're awful.

Yeah, No 6 is right. Spent a week on a caravan park with the in-laws at Cleethorpes in the "summer".
God awful on so many levels although seemingly v.popular with the tatooed hordes of Sth Yorkshire. sctatchinghead

Luton ( or to be more accurate the bits I have seen ) is the pits.
There's good and bad everywhere I suppose.
Even Smoggieborough has some attractive bits..................like the roads out of the place !!!!!!!!!!!

You have got to be joking mate. I went to Stirling Uni, and you'd be hard pushed to find a more picturesque location in the world! Some of the outskirts which run towards Falkirk are a bit run-down, but fook me, Bridge of Allan, Dunblane etc is bloody gorgeous. Loch Lomond and the Trossachs are on your doorstep, and it's as green as a farking billiards table. sctatchinghead

Well to be seen you only stayed the one night. Perhaps not the best basis for condemning a town as a shit-hole? Jeez

Oh, and Bannockburn is tatty btw.
