Is this the most cynical strike in history?

What strike lol

The strike that they've been threatening for weeks Bob, perhaps you missed it. The one they've been banging on about until they realised that they had zilch public support for their cynical stunt.

Naw, unfortunately not. My point was that I was never based in either. 3 Commando Brigade don't do Germany, we tended to get cold and wet places like Norway, Scotland or the Falklands.

How many distressed maidens did you have to "comfort" ??????????? :coool:

Firemen and policemen are the most expensive workforce for the tax payer when pensions are taken into consideration. Unlike civil servants, teachers, local government employees etc who receive 1/80th of their final salary for each year of service, firemen and policemen receive 1/40th of their final salary for each year of service. So after the maximum 30 years service, they retire aged circa 50, to receive 75% of what they would receive if they had continued to work. Would you work for 25% extra less tax? Of course not! Retire and get another job whilst the tax payer pays 75% of your final salary (index linked) for another 30-40 years.
The argument that contributions are higher is irrelevant; tax payers fund everything because they pay the wages.
If the 'retire at 50 on 75% salary' is not a huge drain on the tax payer, why not offer it to all other public employees? They would leap at the chance!

I think you need to check your figures dstanley as most of them are wholly innaccurate.
