.....what boils my......now is the predictable chanting of away fans of "you're supposed to be at home" and "shall we sing a song for you"

And before anyone says we make much more noise at away games, yes I know we do, and everyone on this board knows that. It's because in away games our fans are together usually in one end, whereas at home games they're spread across the Town end, Millhouse terrace and M.H. seats......we dont really have a defined "chanting" end.

It wasn't on the shirt badge prior to 1994/95.

Did it only become the towns club then.?????

If so then we just back to pre 94/95 and so are the attendances.

Nothing much changed really.

I blame geography, to go to Hartlepool you have to have a specific reason. Most towns have a major motorway or trunk road close by so people can stumble across it, Hartlepool is 7 miles from the A19 which is a tad too far for anyone to stop off for a cup of tea.

Consequently Hartlepool has evolved in isolation.

Compared to the rest of the UK Hartlepool has always been very backwards and behind national trends etc. The fact that there are housing estates 1/2 a mile apart in this town where people will not walk between them and that some folks never leave their estate unless they have to is very strange too.

Perhaps if Pools played the 1st half at King Georges field in West View and the 2nd half on the Rec more people would watch cos they would be closer to home?

Oh and having seen a few people at away matches looking worse for wear are you certain all of Hartlepool has evolved?

What he said.

I think Mr I cringes as much as I do when away fans are 'greeted' as they are when paying this board a visit.

We can't control how other people choose to be towards us, but we can control what view of Hartlepool we give to others.

From the Millhouse terrace on Sarrady', when Swindon equalised, I turned to my left to see that stumpy,werewolf-faced, little goon, jumping up and down , clad in his usual garb, with a red and white striped scarf, and thought for the first time.........yes, lets bring back electric shock treatment. stpid

A whole seven miles from the A19... WOW, five minutes by car, as opposed to chariot, ... er, most major towns and cities have a major road adjoining them, but people don't suddenly pull off the motorway to visit them, they go to somewhere if they intend going there, your faith in the enlightening powers of photo copier sales reps from Northampton pulling off the A19 in their Astra, bringing enlightenment, cosmoploitan chic and an insight into a better life as they drive into the backward hamlet of Hertepol for a slash and a cuppa doesn't stand up to real scrutiny.
Peterlee is right next to the A19, I rest my case.

Sorry Snow but thats how people discover places. For many years between from the 1920's onwards many towns off the A1 developed geordie communities, why? because they fell off the Jarrow March and decided to settle. Thats an extreme example but it holds true.

I seem to remember the cost of games were never an issue to the likes of me and Mutley. Mind you, they've made the fencing much more secure these days.

Mr I, there are a number of major cities in this country I have driven by frequently and have never visited.... Leicester comes to mind, it's there on the M1, but I 've had no reason to visit the place so I've never been and most likely never will, same for Manchester, driven round it but never needed to go into it.. I do an awful lot of exploring by car, but the best parts are more than seven miles from a major road.

I did have the unfortunate experience of a new Astra earlier this year that got me to Portsmouth in record time, but I didn't enjoy the ride ..
