Sounds too good to miss. Bit steep for half a room though.
Then there's all this green card business. We can't all be Gérard Dépardieu.

   Yes, it is a wind up. It was borne out of frustration and a night of red wine.

I had previously put an ad on craigslist for a room mate ( a real and serious one with my real address, not the one on the posted link) and had received a few replies. Two of these replies were from the Philippines and the other from England. The filipino woman was a Dr. and the English girl was a model. They both had similar stories of being hired for work in the U.S. Both were too keen to send me money which would of arrived from their new U.S. employer in the form of a cashiers check, which sounded sweet. Come to find out, the filipino woman said there was a slight mistake where her boss had in inadvertently included her airfare and living expenses in the rent and security deposit in the check. I was then told that the check would arrive the following day and as soon as i received it would i immediately send her the difference via western union so she could book her flight for the following day (big flag, starting to feel suspicious). The following day the check did not arrive, it got rerouted to somewhere in Northern California. At this time this she was giving me the details of a western union account to deposit in in the philippines and to do it as quickly as possible as she was going to fly out the next day (another red light). At this point i fabricated a story saying that fedex had security pull the package and that said package was being inspected for something suspicious and that fedex would be either contacting me and the sender of the package. I then asked her for her employers name and phone number to find out if anything was wrong. This was weeks ago and i have not heard a peep from this scam artisit piece of human excrement. All the while a check did arrive for $5300.00 which is either a counterfeit or possibly stolen cashiers check. It is in my room and i have no plans whatsoever of trying to cash it, but it is apparent that someone was hoping to get $3300 out of some unfortunate person, thank god it was not me.

As for the English model, the following was her last e-mail to me.

Thank you for the good gesture, I appreciate that a whole lot. Please
get back to me with you contact info which the first month rent would
be paid, I have made an order of my own furniture and I want to let
you know that I am bringing my own car too. The furniture delivery
fee, rent and the car shipper fee would be included in the payment
which he said he would be drawing up in one check to be sent to you. I
want to have the furniture and car delivered ahead of my arrival and I
want you to be the one that would take delivery of them for me that is
why I am telling him to make out the payment to you so please get back
to me with the info asap.

Well, you can probably guess what was coming next.......

With these couple of bad experiences and like i mentioned "red wine" (also throw a little boredom in the mixer) i decided to place that crazy article in craigslist to somewhat soothe my crushed optimism.

Just goes to show you what lenghts people will go to to scam you out of your money. Their really are some shiite people out there, and you really have to be careful.
