What the foooks the matter with everyone.
First home league game of the season, honestly I don't think this town wants a football team:)
Btw well played. If we could have kept brown and Boyd on we would have won it.

Town full of plastic fooking Premiership fans. Me and my old fella went in the Smallcrafts for our pre match pint, and I was listening to these gadgies behind us, commenting on the Spurs/Man City game that was on the telly. They were referring to Tottenham as 'us'. 'we'. The pair of damned bounders.

After last season I can understand why a lot have stayed away. The business about the takeover wont have helped either. Add to that the fact that we threw away a two goal lead again and the crowds may be even fewer for some of our other home games coming up.

I agree with mr LT, the attendance was shocking. They won't get any better when people see the result either. Pools' played really well but Swindon deserved far more respect than to take our two best players off so early. That sort of double sub is something that should be done closer to 75 mins not 55. Really really frustrating....

Welli can't understand it. Have just had a great result Wednesday, a good opening draw at Rochdale.
And don't get me started on those who are "staying away" because turner is still in charge.

I'd have taken a draw before the game.
I thought brown had a good game but maybe a precaution to only play him 60 minutes or so.
The Boyd one was a surprise unless he was injured.

I don't see what difference it makes whether a player is on for 60 or 70 minutes and if the change had to be made it should of been Behan up top with Fabian running from deep - all in all a massive cock up.... We still played quite well though....

I agree the long ball over the top was never going to work with the little feller up front.
Still, nice to be unbeaten.

Only Macclesfield and Barnet had lower crowds in the football league today...

We have two big chances to win fans over, Sheff Wed and MK Dons on the box. Both games will be seen by the floaters so good performances and positive results are essential otherwise I don't see how things are going to improve.

Seconded refred

Very disappointing to get less than 3000 in for the first home game.

Still at least those who were there got to see a good game and another decent display from the lads. Here's hoping for the first win next week.

Come on Pools.

I know a few people that were on Holiday today so couldn't go which could explain a few absentees, I just hope the home support gets better over the next few weeks.

I suppose we all knew attendances would take another knock after last season but its always hard to take when its confirmed in black and white.

The bottom line is that League 1 football can't be sustained with crowds like this. We can only hope that the team continues to perform decently and things pick up.

Anyway enough negativity. We've made a much better start to the season than any of us were predicting which is really encouraging. Let's hope it gets better next week at Yeovil.

I'm lost for words but hang on I think I have a few left in the tank.
Unbeaten in the league, 2nd round of the cup, what exactly do u want.
If we were top 6 at Xmas would you still refuse to go?
Honestly, sounds like a foooking excuse not to go.
But, if you enjoy walking round asda on a Saturday afternoon that's upto you.

We have lost a lot of fans over the years, but are the results/performances totally to blame for them.

In May Garlands closed, how many of those people may well have been there today if they were still in employment.

Even Chip( I think it was, I may be wrong) but it was a some what die hard admitted on here (on another thread) that he will choose his games for the simple reason his disposable income is a lot less than it was.

Losing a job in May and a new season beginning only 3 months later could have an effect on today's attendance.

As many have said, food/mortgage/clothes on kid's backs come well before a day out costing minimum of £36 month(if you go straight to game and home).

The crowds are worryingly low maybe Pools could offer some sort reduced admission on proof of unemployment, but trying to attract bigger crowds has been talked to death on this and many other boards.

Mind you the I'm not attending whilst Turner's in charge attitudes does stick in my throat and I'm not his number 1 fan but I will still be at home games.

Discounts are great in principle but it doesn't take long at reduced prices to totally piss off and alienate the season ticket holders if they realise they are not saving any money and if they miss a game or two are out of pocket compared to those benefitting from discounts unemployed or not.

I know most got early bird season tickets but even they don't save a fortune.

I got a season ticket at early bird price. I think that gives me something like 5 free games compared to paying at the gate.

Now I'm not suggesting 5 free games for unemployed I'm suggesting a reduced admission fee for a few games and spread over the season. Games where the crowd may be low, not the so called big teams of the division.

Forget it Bob, the towns full of wnankers, always had been always will be.
We had a period where the townsfolk jumped onto the success of the early/mid 2000 years, now they'll blame the manager, the owners, next doors foooking dog or tescos have increased Ace lager to 3 fooking quid for a 24 pack.
Pathetic :)

Your right there. I was giving a possible reason for the reduced attendance today, that not the sole reason but maybe a high ratio of people fall in to the unemployed category. Through no fault of their own, before I get slated off.

And I did transgress away by bringing up the possibility of reduced admission.

The fact is we're down to the die hards/ the go regardless of what fan, when at home. And if sat in automatic promotion place with 1 home game to go, some would still find a reason not to go.

People will spend there time and money on what they want to just because we turn out every game does not mean everyone else has to.
Maybe a 2-0 win would have won some fans back but most people will be talking about the 2-0 that was thrown away by taking off Brown and Boyd not the great first half display.

Agreed that the attendance was disappointing, but two home games in the same week as the Tall Ships' visit was always going to be costly for some people.

Why don't you simply count the number of names on the covers of yesterdays programme, then it'll sort out this ridiculous notion that the club are lying about Season Ticket Sales?

But that'd be too simple and would contradict what somebody wrote on here a few weeks ago, so surely the word of a mouthpiece on The Bunker is factually correct rather than information from the club itself? Especially if they wrote something like "FACT" or "HTH" on the end of their pronouncement?

There are 70 rows of names, some rows have 17, some have 18 names on them.

Somewhere twixt 1190-1240 then....

What did the club give as the figure?

When I heard that attendance figure for the first time I felt like writing a letter to the Mail. This Town is full of negative, bitter, twisted, horrible, thick twats. All these gum bashing whining goons who are going about how we are ‘doomed’ as if it’s 1989 again, as if somehow they quite like that and that’s how Pools should be.

We have a League One football club, why the fook don’t people support it? I bet more than 2,500 wankers form Hartlepool were at Sunderland yesterday which is fooking sickening.

Would not believe the season ticket numbers at all while standing outside the ground yesterday waiting for the chipster to turn up i noticed my mates nephews name twice on the centennial brick wall and pointed it out he said there was a few spaces left so they doubled it up for now't.

And for people not caring about pools we had a national rugby side in Hartlepool that faded to the lower levels did every football fan go and support them.
No because they did not give a flying fook about rugby so why should other Hartlepool sports fans rally around pools.
Just because we love pools does not mean the town has to its not the towns club anymore look at your shirt badge,.

That's exactly the attitude that had led to us having less than 3,000 people watching League One football......

My next door neighbours son is 13 and he spoke to me over the fence last night, " pools were sh1te weren`t they", I asked him did he watch the whole game and he said he had!

Perhaps it comes down to intelligence, perception, football knowledge or another unknown factor, I put him straight about the first half display and the fight to the end attitude and his reply was, "huh you loser" banghead banghead

Just had the same conversation with someone, who I thought knew summit about football.... "We were shite he said", no we were'nt I said, we just tried to sit on a first half lead, and it did'nt work.

Let's be honest here, at half time I thought we could go on to win this one comfortably, but weve got that many people in the the town who are happy to see us slip-up, as it gives them a good excuse to say they dont or wont go and watch us.

I'm beginning to think it's best not to engage the fooker's in conversation at all, because whatever you tell the winkers they just take it, put a massive negative spin on it, then tell someother Man U/Maggie /Liverpool silly boy a complete an utter load of bullshite.

The lot of em' aint worth wasting yer' breath on.

There was 4 free comp tickets at work last week and nobody would take 1 why is my question why will people not even go to pools if its free.
Just saying they are winkers or plastic Man utd does not help pools you need to know why people are turning there back on pools and put it right surely.

It's been the same for as long as I can remember.
When we were promoted under Murray we were only averaging 3000, and as ive said it's only been the early/mid 2000s where we had continuous plays offs, promotions and cup runs when the town actually cared.

I always thought there's only Rochdale can get worse crowds than us but even they had a higher home turnout for their first game.
It's embarrasing but typical of the attitude of Hartlepool in general.

I've said it before but I have never come across such an insular town as Hartlepool. admittedly its better than it used to be but it still retains a strange attiitude.

I blame geography, to go to Hartlepool you have to have a specific reason. Most towns have a major motorway or trunk road close by so people can stumble across it, Hartlepool is 7 miles from the A19 which is a tad too far for anyone to stop off for a cup of tea.

Consequently Hartlepool has evolved in isolation.

There was 4 free comp tickets at work last week and nobody would take 1 why is my question why will people not even go to pools if its free.
Just saying they are winkers or plastic Man utd does not help pools you need to know why people are turning there back on pools and put it right surely.

The reason is they are cuntywankers, end of, they like to see the club 'fail', it's Hartlepool thang

Ha, it's only 6.4 miles to the Tea Rooms in Avenue Road.

My original childish point was going to be 'It's only about 3 miles from the A19 into Hartlepool'

...and if Horwoods effort had gone in, instead of glancing the bar that would have been 3-0 and game over.

.....what boils my......now is the predictable chanting of away fans of "you're supposed to be at home" and "shall we sing a song for you"

And before anyone says we make much more noise at away games, yes I know we do, and everyone on this board knows that. It's because in away games our fans are together usually in one end, whereas at home games they're spread across the Town end, Millhouse terrace and M.H. seats......we dont really have a defined "chanting" end.

its not the towns club anymore look at your shirt badge,.

It wasn't on the shirt badge prior to 1994/95.

Did it only become the towns club then.?????

If so then we just back to pre 94/95 and so are the attendances.

Nothing much changed really.

Compared to the rest of the UK Hartlepool has always been very backwards and behind national trends etc. The fact that there are housing estates 1/2 a mile apart in this town where people will not walk between them and that some folks never leave their estate unless they have to is very strange too.

Perhaps if Pools played the 1st half at King Georges field in West View and the 2nd half on the Rec more people would watch cos they would be closer to home?

Oh and having seen a few people at away matches looking worse for wear are you certain all of Hartlepool has evolved?
