Do Carl Jones and James Brown count, I believe we had to put them on pro contracts as they weren't officially able to be on youth team contracts and had been somewhere like Chester-Le-Street.

Failing that.... I'd hazard a guess at one of Tait's multitude. Di Lella, Jon Sunderland, someone of that ilk....

While he was waiting for Pools to sign him, Dobson was working as a Welder at the firm my Dad worked for (just off Brenda Road, the place with the Woden sign still on it!) - apparently he was OK as a welder when he could be bothered, but most of the time couldn't be!
