Talbot,

My understanding of the oil industry isn't vast but as I understand it a lot of IORs work is in the infrastructure that surrounds the actual oil companies, if exploration/extraction/new investment in sites is tempered as a knee jerk reaction to the BP incident then it would have a huge knock on for the companies that live off the back of companies like BP.

IOR not making as much money in the short term may not spell trouble for them or for HUFC but it would certainly temper any investment in the company toy.

It depends mate. Company my mate works for is doing better because of the BP fiasco as they sell stuff that prevents that kind of thing happening and which is becoming more popular. There's a lot of oil work going on elsewhere around the world, the slowdown is only around the US area at the moment and that'll only be temporary.

I understood most of IOR's business to be far east and former Soviet areas, but not sure as I can't remember where I got that info from. confised

in the unlikely event i ever joined a clique, i can 100 per cent assure you ripper would not be in it.

for legal reasons the board has to be moderated. sad, and boring, but true.

Oh yeah I forgot, theres a moderators forum for admin purposes but no secret forum for the priveleged few.

Who does the club owe monies to?

HMRC?, I doubt it
Players, I wouldn't think so

Who else but the HMRC could really place the club in admin, seen as IOR write off the debt each year?

possibly, but why wait till the week before the season starts to do it ? if they wanted rid surely they would have done it at the same time they axed west ?

On past performance, sackings have never materialised at 'the right time', if such a thing exists.

Unless IOR are wanting back the money they subbed you with then theres no chance of you lot going into administration, unless someone like George Houghton has taken control of them!

If its not because of a takeover, then maybe they have decided its more bother than its worth having a football club that doesnt have its own ground and cant seem to make any progress towards owning that ground. Making you live within your means without subsidy could be the way they have decided to go.

Mind you, it does seem a bit strange how Tubby was full of beans a few weeks back and now is totally pissed off with things.

Without knowing the intimacies of the setup of IOR and its subsiduries its very hard to tell. What we do know is that the directors of Hartlepool United FC Limited can easily place the club into administration with little more than a phone call. All it would take is for IOR to state that they will not financially support the business and the dominoes will start falling.

I am a bit concerned too, a friend of mine who works at Pools told me nearly a year ago that Hodcroft and IOR don't want us to do well and that they would prefer us going down to League 2, the deadly silence and the lack of activity at the minute is getting me thinking along the lines of that they are pulling out, or they just cant be arsed anymore and grinding us into the ground with lack of funds etc for players and a manager. Scary times ahead, lets hope someone does come along and buys us out, we need an owner who believes in us.

Take a step back and read what you have just typed, then consider we have been in league one for 7 of the last 8 seasons.

If Hodcroft wanted us not to do well and be in League Two he's either the shittest evil genius in Western Europe or you are talking a total, and potentially libellous amount of bollocks.

the idea that Hodcroft/IOR want us in league 2 is ridiculous. Surely, if the wanted us to be relegated, the would have refused to sanction the signing of Roy Odonovan last season?

Or Nardiello the season before?

I suppose it is not the fact that an administrators forum (the clique) exists, after all as I understand it you are long standing friends, it is the information that the clique is privvy to through that forum, that is not available to plebs such as myself that irks.

I have (and never have had) no inside knowledge to pools or the inner circle of Pools confidantes and rely on MB's such as this to inform wherever possible, but there is always a hint of we know but we can't tell you on this board, unless that is you solve 17 feckin riddles and a Times cryptic crossword puzzle. I understand the laws of libel constrain what can can be said but for fecks sake in this information vacuum spill yer guts!

My belief of the word clique is that it's a small group of friends or associates.

From the French (perhaps from Old French) cliquer to click; suggestive of the necessity to exclude non members.

I can see the sense in a moderators forum and if they want to discuss other stuff in there I don't really see the issue.

I have been told a few things (by current and recent players) over the summer that have either sounded worrying or have been contrary to rumours being thrown around. None of it is regarding take overs etc but it has pointed to a lack of funds and investment in more than one area of the club, and poor morale.

I just don't see posting the details of things on here is fair to either the people that they came from or the club in general.

I respect your position alienlife, but you have just posted it. It makes the uninformed more informed and a touch more able to figure out what is going on. Unless your a windup merchant of course, for which I have to consider is a possibility, as with all rumours.

There is a moderators forum which all message boards have and need to ensure they run properly & dont end up with bullying or illegal/libellous posts & that is cool.
The bunker also has another forum 'The Inner Bunker' which is not a moderators forum,it is a forum that is open to those deemed worthy, the inner clique.

I guess that reply was aimed at me and fair enough for replying, however how do you reconcile
Quote:
if i speak to someone who works for pools and he tells me something in confidence, i'm hardly likely to post the fooker on this message board am i ? i may pass that information on via pm to a few people i trust to keep their mouths shut, but thats as far as it goes.
In confidence fook me Chip, you leak like a sieve.

I don't expect verbatim quotes to be posted on the message board (would be nice but not expected for obvious reasons ) but I find it difficult to read the all the threads on a particular subject and still feel I have missed at least half a conversation somewhere, no doubt due to something I wasn't included in, a situation I am normally reasonably comfortable with, having been a member of this board since inception, after all I can't change it.

However, here we are in the midst of potentially the worst crisis since Harold Hornsey took over and some people still take delight in clouding a situation and issuing disinformation intentionally or otherwise perhaps. Now is the time to get somewhere near the truth.

I have to agree with that. We're all Pools fans and we all want the best for them as a team.

The fact is people's opinions will always differ, mine more than most. And I have had a go at things mainly to do with the football side. But to have a go at each other is not the way forward. yes our opinions will differ but let's at least respect them.

I don't believe Turner is the right man for the job but I believe he, along with Hodcroft, Green and everyone else connected with Pools want exactly the same.

Passions are running high for many reasons, mine higher than most, as my posts on Saturday after the Leeds game prove but with rumours from Major Investment (in the Millions) to the one I heard today of administration mean most are on tender hooks for whatever reason.

In just over a week the season begins and irrespective of the starting eleven on the first day, they need our support.

The people who are running the club behind the scenes deserve it as much and every fan should have it as well.

We are Hartlepool United Football Club, the bad, if it happens will only be what some have experienced over the years. Now I'm not saying I want a return to those day's (I most certainly don't). I not saying I expect a return to those days, once more I don't. But the thing that has carried Pools through more thin than thick is the fans who have stuck together along those bad roads. The "glory-hunters" of the Cardiff game are well gone , they have returned to their premiership shirts, whatever team that was, they were gone before the transport returning them to Hartlepool had left Cardiff and regardless of the result, even if we had won, they weren't returning the following season.

It's now down , not to the die hards, as such but the loyal supporters who every club has and more importantly need.

Let's keep giving our opinions, lets keep disagreeing with others who we think are wrong, but lets stop turning threads that can be interesting into a place for name calling and back stabbing, it wont do any one, especially the team, any good.

Rant Over.

Tony there is another forum within the Bunker, with limited membership, which includes yourself because you have posted on it. But as TA has said there is nothing happening there, the last post on it was May 6th.

If monty had been a conscientious trustee he would have locked this thread about three pages ago on the grounds of life-threatening boredom.
I'll leave it to someone else though. Come on cliquemates, any takers?
