We picked up Joel from the Mackems & O'Donovan too. Any decent forwards lurking about at the SOL the Black Cats can lend us ?
Or we are going to play 4-5-1 cos we've got fook all up front. :roll:

In case anybody is interested Joel can be seen playing for Gold Coast on the Bet 365 website when they broadcast the Aussie League games.

look out for it next season for some light relief from Pools. :wink:

Some of the interplay between Joel and Boydy was unbelievable pity they couldn't have teamed up again!

Why was he never a sucess at a higher level over here?

He was our best player in some games without being 100% fit, the season him and Boyd had together where they scored a hatfull of goals was outstanding, so was Joel carrying Boydy that year or has Boyd just been taking some magic make me a poor centre forward tablets since?

Boyd set up more goals than Joel scored that season. I believe it was Martin Scott who gave him the 'poor centre forward' tablets by making him play on a damaged knee thinking he was faking it then bringing him back far too soon.

In his second spell Boydy's been in a shit team with a non existent midfield. He still has a good goals to starts ratio despite the fact he's often doing the work of 2 strikers.

So maybe it's just having a competent striker next to him that he needs? With O'Donovan he was back to his best.
