Not for me over 40's. I've played footy all my life, but everytime i watch an over 40's match someone get's quite seriously injured and there's also two or three fights every game. Very few on the pitch actually playing football.

I've still got a couple of years yet to think about it before i reach 40, and your right about the fitness and the footy crack etc,but at the minute the negatives outweigh the positives for me.

My dads best mate John Grange who ran the touchdown for years and still is the secretary knows a few people chip. I have ref'd a few games for them in the past when "King Kenny" was playing for them, all the bloke have a good laugh.

john grange still runs the touchdown i think.

Pretty sure John has taken a back seat but still does admin etc, he is a right laugh and loves footy same as my dads other good mate John Foster or "Fozzy".

I used to go to the touchdown pub quiz with them every week with my dad when lived at home, still try to when I am back.

Dont mean to be cheeky chip but do you play (are you over 40) as I know John is always looking for players? Didnt "King Kenny" score a stupid amount of goals in the over 40's.

i wouldnt totally disagree, but i think it depends on who you are watching. there are some seriously violent sides ( pennywell and hendon spring to mind ) and there are sadly some nutters playing who still havent grown up. it also gets more serious inthe higher division of which there are 5.

theres also some seriously good footballers out there who have played pro or semi pro, it keeps you fit, and its normally good crack. obviously people over 40 are probably more prone to injury, and ive had 2 bad ones myself ( broken collar-bone and dislocated shoulder both from bad tackles ) so yeah i can understand it wouldnt be everyones cup of tea.

My brothers helped his mate once delivering Christmas hampers in Pennywell

It said it was like downtown Baghdad, without the sunshine

Kenny Elsdon scored over 300 goals for the Touchdown during his Over 40s career. I played in the same side when he notched his 300th goal at King George V and everyone was over the moon for him. Fully deserved.
