Has had his trial terminated with Turner stating he wants a forward who can compete for a first team place straight away.

Thats a shame, we desperately need some pace upfront. We saw what difference it made when we signed O Donovan. sadx

It's only a shame if the lad was a decent footballer as well as being able to run.

If Turner reckons he's released him because he wants to sign somebody who can compete for a first team place then you could assume that his footballing talent isn't as good as his sprinting skills, and if that's the case then it's not a shame.

Young Greulich has a bit of pace about him if we want somebody young and raw in the squad who can run a bit, so we don't necessarily need two of them if there's only one space for another forward to be brought in. I'd rather we signed somebody who was quick and could score goals rather than just a sprinter. Baby David could run for fk's sake, but he couldn't score a league goal!

Thats a shame, was hoping he could be the answer. There must be some strikers at the big 3 who we could loan for a season. We see the likes of Waghorn etc going out and doing well, why cant we get them to come here?

we got o'donovan on loan last season from sunderland ????

i know it wasnt for a full season, but he was certainly the business.

it would be great to see us get someone like nile ranger in for a season rather than someone not good enough.

I know we got Roy, meant more along the lines of young lad they are bringing through (obviously another roy would be better) There must be so many young lads at these clubs who they have high hopes for who would beneift from coming here.

Turner said there were a few he was interested in but they only wanted to loan them to championship level clubs.

I see what you are saying Mr R. I forgot about Greulich (Who looks fast but 'raw', presumably the same as Gary Martin). Im of the opinion that all sides need a few pacey players even if they are not particularly good 'footballers'. Having a fast striker gives a side many more options in terms of playing the ball over the top and all that. Having slow players like Behan and Boyd up front makes us much easier to contain for the opposition. O Donovan showed how sides at league 1 level struggle against genuine pace. Ps, I dont think foley is particularly quick, his legs were just so small that he looked quick.
