I can understand some people in England not warming to him generally as Andy Murray’s public persona has been that of a fairly grumpy person who is intensly focused on his game (presumably the reason for his success so surely a good thing), as opposed to the more cheerful demeanour of Tim Henman, who also happened to be the hero of the English rural middle-class.

My understanding of the Murray incident was that the English interviewer asked him how he expected Scotland to get on in the Championships they were involved in, so as a bit of banter Murray said he wanted anyone but England to win. This has since led to typical mass hysteria about Murry hating England when really he doesn't.

I hope the lad wins, I don't particularly warm to his personality but then I don't really give a fck about tennis. I watched him the other day against Tsonga and he was excellent throughout. Everyone seems to rant about Nadal so it should be a good match tomorrow.
