re: original question

Yes, of course it would have made a difference.

(waits to see what conclusions people draw from that statement)

Was I the only one to get the impression that Ronaldo was pi$$ed off yesterday that his team werent good enough for his talents? He kinda typifies why the current British/European game is so gash. With his sulky looks into the mid-distance whilst he seriptiously glances at the big stadium TV just to ensure they are getting his best side and his petulance at ohters apparant inequalities - at times he looked genuinely put out that he wasnt playing for a better team.

Well for the likes of Ronaldo, Gerrard, Fatty Boy Lampard and the rest - they would love it if you could play for the BEST national side. They could have their agents garner the most appropraite deals for them whislt they seemlessly changed their nationality to adopt the contry of their choice, a country with more chance of winning than their own. Thats how much they want to play for their shirt. Tvvats.

Fook em, fook em all. Im not a big nationalist myself, I just see it as an accident of geography at birth, but to many it really matters. And to see tossers like that representing their country is a friggin insult.

As is Garth Crooks giving any thoughts on any sport, but thats another tale ..
