I've got a few scottish 'friends' on fbook who I know mainly through work, just thought I'd share a few of their comments after the USA game:

"lets all laugh at england HA HA"

"hahaha, arrogant english twats still think they can win it,and they wonder why every other country hates them"

"i would rather scotland weren't in the world cup to embarrass themselves..........we'll leave that to our english fools!!!"

"Quality night ...Scotland win at the 'egg chukkin' & the 'auld enemy' came crashing back down to earth....whoohoo"

"Ha-ha, get it up ya. Robert Green-what a hero, now bring on calamity James"

"Crackin night last night.......place was absolutely jumpin.....go KOR!!! Stickers on face, horns on head.......magic! Plus USA had a nice wee draw wi' the scumbags....all good!!!"

Is it me or do these fellers have a bit of a chip on their shoulder?

When Darlo lost to nobody fc in the FA cup a few year ago, there were plenty of pools fans doing the same. Same with Darlo fans when Kettering beat us last season. It's called football rivalry.

Added to that the fact that there have been many instances of war between the 2 countries, albeit in the distant past, do you seriously expect any different?

How many on here have a built-in dislike for Germany because of what happened 70 odd year ago?

It's a natural human trait....

It's also big rival syndrome. A lot of England fans wish Scotland well at major tournaments in a patronising, pat-on-head sort of way. You get the same thing with Newcastle fans who like to see Pools do well. It's very easy to have generous thoughts towards a neighbour that has been a lot less successful than you and isn't seen as a threat. It's not so easy the other way around.

Completely agree, besides, without rivalry life would be so boring.

Be sure to let us all know what your Brazilian 'friends' think of the English Klinger. Some photo's might help

yeah but the thing is, they are not our rivals are they? the home internationals finished years ago but they still refer to us as the 'auld enemy'.

a lot of scottish fans live in the past where england are concerned and are so consumed with envy they will grasp onto any shiite to try and make them feel better about the fact they have'nt qualified for a major tournament for over 10 years.

my favourites were the comment "I'm glad we're not in it to embarass ourselves like the english fools" and the guy who had great night celebrating a scottish victory in egg chucking.

Well, now, doesn't this just explain everything you ever wanted to know about men.
Get yourself onto the 'Obscure Film Thread', misterb, and find yourself a bit of excitement.
