It's early days and its not a disaster but it certainly didn't inspire confidence. Where the ITV commentators get off saying England played well is beyond me.

I can only remember England dominating a game against decent opposition, the 4-1 victory against the cloggies in 1996

Did you all expect a thrashing of the USA? USA arent a bad team, any team who can beat Spain and nearly win the Confederations cup by being unluckily beaten by Brazil cant be too bad of a team!

The Yank's are very shrewd, now I've had time to think about it there will probably be a programme on the telly in 3 month's time where David Blane or some other renowned U.S medium claims the credit for inducing Rob' Greens mistake.

Four years ago Germany were awful in the group stages and went on to the final where they were beaten by an equally unimpressive Italy. The world cup is littered by slow starting teams than went on to do well.

Robert Green has blamed the ball. banghead
No matter how many times i watch it, i can't blame the ball for his incompetent blunder. Ass-hole.

..agreed Sussex, but is there really a team in the tournament who can boast more than 2 world class players?

I'd settle for our team to just play to their potential, for a change.

IMO Englands biggest problem lies in the fact the to a man our squad are well known. Almost every other side, and certainly every side that will threaten the last 16, has 1 or 2 players that have either played with or against the majority of the England squad on a regular basis. Thus meaning that it is fairly easy to work out where our stregths and weaknesses lie.

Most of the opposition England will face including the bigger teams like Spain, Brazil, etc will have more than a few players that our side may have never seen play on TV never mind face to face.

Think that comment is a bit stupid, which english footballer doesnt watch the Champions League or La Liga, I do and I am not a paid professional player and I have seen everyone in the starting 11 for each of the teams mentioned at least 3-4 times.
