Fred Dinenage has become an MBE for services to broadcasting in the Queen's Birthday Honours List.

He started presenting Coast to Coast on Southern Television in 1982 with Fern Britton from This Morning.

He then went on to present on Meridian from 1993.

He has presented the news on Meridian for 17 years.

He presented the famous children's TV show, How 2 from 1990 to 2006.

So Fred Dinenage has been on TV down here for about 28 years and has now become MBE.

In comparison Jeff Stelling has presented football Saturday from 1994 onwards.

In 2014, he will have done 20 years with Sky.

Judging from Fred Dinenage's career, Jeff may only need to wait a matter of years before one of Hartlepool's most famous sons is given an MBE.

I know. My Grandad actually left me a copy of his book and I've still got it today.

FFS POK, Jeff Stelling is as undeserving of an MBE/OBE as any of the celebrities.
