David Laws, secretary to the treasury and the man chosen to mastermind the cutbacks, has resigned.
He stands accused of fiddling over £40,000 to fund accomodation for his boyfriend.
I wonder if he'll face a judge for stealing from the country as other thieves masquerading as MPs have done.

Hang him by his big bollox I say!

I see that Cameron has appointed another Liberal to the job.
The question I would like answered is has the new guy been appointed because he is the best man for the job or because the post has been designated as Liberal???????
So has David Cameron appointed the new guy in the best interests of the country or in the interest of keeping the peace with the people keeping him in power.
What a bloody farce.

I don't understand what the guy has done wrong?
Before I got married, me and the mrs lived together for 3 years, as it was her place to start with I just paid her rent - if I had been working for someone at that time who paid rent as part of their salary package then I would have had absolutely no qualms about claiming it.
Maybe there is more to this story than I have read but if that is all it was then it's a great pity as the guy came across as a pretty competent mp.
You do also wonder where this story came from.........labour/Campbell anyone.

The story is the responsibility of The Daily Telegraph, which is about as far from Campbell / Labour as you can get.
If you are looking for a conspiracy theory then I suggest you have a look at the men in grey suits, more commonly known as Tory Grandees, who are privately seething over this coalition with the Libs.
As for what has he done wrong?????????? He, like the majority of MPs, stretched the expenses malarkey to its sinewy limit, and every single one of them said that they weren't aware that they were doing wrong.
If he wasn't doing wrong why is he going to pay £40k back???? On top of that why doesn't he defend his corner??? On top of that why has he resigned?????/ I'll make a suggestion...........damage limitation.
As for his competence...............you may well be right..........but he was untried in high office so I would say the jury was out on that one.
When Labour politicians had their hands in the till they were called everything from a pig to a dog, so guess what................so will Laws...............it goes with the job. And rightly so.
He worked the system and like Talbot said, he is just as much a thief as benefit cheats.
He broke the eleventh commandment............... he got caught.

So let's get this straight, which bit of what he did was so wrong in your eyes?

The guy claimed the rent he paid to someone he was neither married to or in a civil partnership with.

I did this for three years as it made things less complicated for personal at the time.
If you had done the same would you expect to be sacked / hounded out of your job - I'd take a wild stab in the dark and say no.

The reason he has resigned mate is due to some immoral clown outing him for party political gain and throwing his life and that of his family into turmoil

But don't let that get in the way of your daily mail esque rant

Just for the record............I wouldn't have the Daily Mail in my house. In my opinion it is a comic. I hope that clears that up.
He has been outed by The Daily Telegraph..........a paper renowned for backing the Tories. What political gain can that be when The Telegraph backed Cameron???? It is the Telegraph you need to direct YOUR rant against.
As for me. If I had been claiming back rent payed legitimately through my employers expenses claim system and was sacked/hounded out of my job because I was following the rules then I would fight it. So why doesn't he????
I'll ask you again...........why, if he has done nothing wrong, does he intend to pay every penny back, why has he resigned and why has he not threatened the Telegraph with defamation of character?????????
If you seriously don't know who sacked him or told him he must resign............try Cameron.

It's simple really; the rules said that you can't claim on a partner's property. Laws thought that someone who he was shagging on a regular basis wasn't a partner? You don't need a law degree to see that that's a bit suspect. If your employers had a similar rule, I wouldn't be advertising what you did on a public forum.
