Meeting today regarding the parachute payments and the allocation of funds that could see aboost the money each club receives from £108,000 to £325,000 in League One, and from £72,000 to £250,000 in League Two.

However think the FL will rule against it as will cause the people dropping out of the PL to gain massive payments after 4 years, well thats how I read it.

Think the page changed, as it saying the League has accepted the new proposals.

Blackmail by the Premier League. They said vote for this or all payments stop immediately, lots of League 1 and 2 clubs need the payment to get through the summer. There is also a new system for compensation when they take young players- leads to less for the smaller clubs surprisingly enough. A "senior figure" who didn't want to be named described it as "bullying of the worst kind".

Should wreck the level of competitiveness in the Championship though so the Premier League will be happy. Sooner they disappear into their own European mega-league the better.

This deal really stinks, but league one and two chairmen are presumably going to say that they are looking at the big picture and beggars can't be choosers.
According to the "new deal" Doncaster and Scunthorpe will get £8.8m over the four years whereas their near neighbours Hull will get £48m. Depending on all three staying in the championship.
That is a real level playing field now isn't it.

It is only a matter of time before Prem 1 and Prem 2 is formed with promotion / relegation only between the two.
Two leagues of 20 teams, selected by the premier league so as not to exclude any "big" teams.

Then the rest of us will get nothing.

They had a golden opportunity to give the football league a pot of money, allowing them to share it out fairly after consultation with the 72 football league clubs. But no, they want their own league and want a say in the football league as well. There are no boundaries to the greed and arrogance of these people.

I can't wait for the day when it all collapses around them.

That just seems stupid, one day the house of cards in the Premier league will tumble and when it does I hope nobody is there to bail them out.

If they hadn't been helping Portsmouth by paying them early etc, then that club could have gone out of business, the first time a club in 'the best league in the world' goes bust no matter how big or small all of the sugar daddy investors will run a mile.

Didn'y that happen when the PL was created or am I missing something?

Instead of cutting their cloth according to their crowds and other income streams newly promoted clubs with ave gates of 20-30k can pay stupid wages to attract the so-called best players and therefore backrupt themselves in the process like Hull and Portsmouth. These clubs can now yo-yo between the PL and Championship with even greater regularity a la WBA.

Give it five seasons and the Championship will be effectively split in two.

As for the blood money given to the likes of us sensible clubs will use it to secure their finances where as others will go mad and bring in players they can't afford like when ITV waved all that money at them and that bubble soon burst.

The simple solution of course is to cut the players wages and get them to live in the real world.
