Jones should have been brought on after about 20minutes with Gamble going off but Turner obviously has a problem with him.
Boyd should have been on earlier too.
Hartley cant pass water.
Brown is a right winger, he cant play with his back to defenders he aint strong enough.
With Brown, O Donovan, Mcsweeney, Monkhouse, Boyd and Behan up top we have 6 players who want the ball to their feet, so why were we launchung hugh balls all friggin game? Turner must be telling them to do this.

Performance of the day = the Exeter crowd - top class. Apart from Gary Liddle and Scott Flinders, the whole team that started performed below par. Even the man of century, Neil Austin, was tired and emotional. Substitutes came way too late. Gamble was shot before he laced up his wee booties. Hartley will be a good player forus but needs a mental holiday. As for tactics??? I know the pitch is hard but can we please stop launching it into inner orbit until we re-sign Stevie Howard?

I dont agree. People say that he isnt a left back but the fact is that he isnt a "footballer". His all round game simply isnt up to scratch. The position he plays in will make no difference. His positional play, tackling and distribution will not suddenly improve by playing him more centrally. In fact it would just make him more of a liability.

Ps, one player who definitely needs a break is Gamble. He was dreadful again today. How can pools turn good players into shiite ones in a matter of months?? The corner Gamble gave away today for near the half wayline was probably the most comical moment of the season. It says a lot when Humphries is playing consistantly better than him right now.

Hartley's standard is not far different to Gary Liddle's standard when he signed up. Neither was the finished article. To say he can't improve when he has has so little experience of league football and has played well at times is a bit harsh. He is certainly a better LB than Ritchie Humphreys, which was plan A. He's not in the same category of lost causes as Michael McKay who I said years ago wouldn't make it.

Rubbish - Gary Liddle was quality for the majority of out promotion season and he certainly didn't start slow, his form dipped when we got promotion but he has been steady this season. Hartley has been woeful.

A bloke behind me said today he couldn't understand how we have conceded so many this season, considering we have an excellant keeper and 2 very good defenders (Liddle and Austin). The simple answer is although we do have 2 very good defenders, we also have 1 poor one and 1 abysmal one. However despite everyone in the crowd knowing Haslem is a far better player than Hartley, Hartley keeps getting picked ahead of him. I really believe Turner is trying to Piss Jones off, as it was crying out for him to come on and take the game to Exeter (has Turner forgot the impact he made against Leeds banghead ). We need changes made for next saturday, not Turners favourites/undroppable players.

This is the team i would pick:

Flinders
Austin Collins Liddle Haslam
Brown Jones Humphries Monkhouse
Boyd O donovan

We have been saying that all season but we all know Turner wont change now. Fortunately it appears almost certain that he wont be in charge next season. Lets just hope (a) we stay up and (b) Players like Jones decide to stay and give it a go under a proper manager.

I didn't get to yesterday's game as I was playing cricket.

Very disappointed that we couldn't beat Exeter. I've heard mixed reviews of the game. Some have said the whole team were pap and Jish text me to say that the game was in fact quite even but, as with the Walsall game, certain players were making too many errors or simply not quick enough to provide any sort of cut and thrust. I'll let you decide who he was on about

Just a fortnight ago I was absolutely certain that relegation was out of the question but now I really can't be so sure. Such is the joy of being a Pools fan at the moment!

If one accepts that the FA will finally get there arses into gear and take three points off us (why is it taking so long for them to come to a decision?) then I think we'll be relying on other results to keep us up as I can't see us getting anything out of the Brentford game.

It's more or less an exact repeat of what happened last season. Turner must surely be relieved of his position over what can only be described as a complete and utter lack of progress.

There's nothing new to discuss really. Today's performance was so so so so similar to other performances and I find it very difficult trying to find anything new to say.
I'll tell you all the reason just one more time.
At this level of management Mr Turner just simply hasn't got a clue and needs to be replaced ASAP.
I am now convinced that a complete break from Turner needs to take place. Any influence he has at the club in whatever capacity has to be terminated.............also ASAP.

We now are reying on ...............
The Authorities...............not to take more than one point
OR
Stockport and/or Wycombe to do us a favour.

Because, unless there is massive turnaround in the performances we put up at Wycombe and Walsall, we ain't gonna get any joy at Brentford.

At the end of the game the folk in our immediate vicinity in the CK were wishing each other a pleasant summer etc and a worrying amount were saying no season ticket next season if Turner was in charge or if we go down.

Substitutions far far too late in the game. Brown was poor and out fought, Gamble was a shadow of the player that signed for us, Hartley gave a textbook display in how not to pass to your teammates, The Referee was inconsistent.

Pools MOTM for me would be Liddle (Mainly for his second half effort to get us back into the game.

We need a manager that can work out his best team, get the best out of his players, understands our strengths and sets us up to play football because Brown or O'Donovan are never going to be the kind of forwards that get onto the end of long balls in the air.

I may be alone in this view but I would be happy if in the summer we kept the majority of the current squad, signed a proper left back, kept O'Donovan and a proper manager.

There are 4 of us that go to games regularly and have had season tickets for the past 10 years, none of us are renewing next year unless a drastic change in management occurs.

The squad we currently have is by no means a hopeless one. The players at other clubs, with one or two expetions, are in no way, shape or form markedly superior to the ones we have. It is not a squad that should be going into the last game of the season with relegation hanging over its head. I too would be happy to keep the majority of the squad we currently have.

But we desperately need a new manager. Another thing that people have said to me, something that has been repeated on here, is that Turner once again let the game drift. In addition to this, and again this is nothing people haven't heard before, his substitutions (when he gets round to them) make no sense, it is clear as daylight that he has favourites that he considers undroppable and, although its not the most important quality in a manager, he offers zero leadership.

Agreed. Had they been made 10 minutes earlier we would have won. Sweeney's pace and Boyd's touch changed the game for us.
