Why did Turner even sign him back?

He never got the best out of him back in the day and hasn't shown any faith in him all season. Like when brought in Larkin the other week ahead of him.

It wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if it was true.

I think expectations were unfairly raised regarding Boyd due to his previous spell with us being so good. I still think he is a good bet for a goal if you need one but other than that has not performed as we would have liked.

So he could say he's brought the prodigal son home, and give himself a bit of goodwill with the fans.

Just because he wanted to be back home isn't reason enough for anyone to sign him, and that still doesn't contradict what I'd said. It's only my opinion, but that's how it seems to me.

I think the club signed him to deflect criticsm, to repace Joel, and show their desire to improve things at the end of last season and, of course, to boost season ticket sales. Looks like they could be about to repeat the experience if they can get ODO to sign.

Boydy was actually a decent signing, having lost 20+ goals to Australia we had a replacement ready that was good enough to recover most of those goals.

Sadly Turner's man-management is so utterly appalling he doesn't have the ability to get the best out of players, as proved by the vast majority of players this season underpeforming.

I've never been a Boydie fan but with the right boss I think I could have been.

With the exception of O Donovan, in terms of goals per game started he's well ahead of the rest.

His strike rate is equivilent to 17 league goals in a season. Not spectacular but pretty damn good for a bottom of the table side.

It makes you wonder what he could achieve if he actually tried.

I heard his agent was livid, as apparently he'd been made to sweat in training last week.
