The "and/or" is the key part in that. There may not be a points deduction but I would guess if there isnt then there would be hell on from the other clubs around you.

I think what happened to Palace last season will happen to us, i.e. they lost the points gained in the game in which the offence took place. That's the best we can hope for, really...

Not sure if Brighton will get the points, don't think Palace's opponents got awarded a win - using that as an example.

Just wish we didn't have to wait 2 weeks to find out!

It's a basic rule in grass roots football , that all points have to be played for.
i.e they can be deducted but cannot be awarded to the opposition.

I would assume the rule applies in the higher levels of the game

I have a feeling that the league will simply slap us with a fine. That's what I'm hoping anyway.

At the end of the day many people reckoned we would stay up even if we obtained only 2 draws from the Easter weekend so it isn't necessarily the end of the world if 3 points are taken off us.

If we only get a fine then I can see the other sides around Pools challenging it. How would we feel if another team near the foot of the table got 3 points assisted by an illegible player and they merely got a fine. Its just not right is it! It would open up a Hyyauge can of worms. Clubs would not be sufficently dissuaded from playign illegible players merely by a fine especially where relegation or promotion is at stake.

it's even been mentioned on the Tyne Tees news sports round up, and it's on the BBC site League One page as the leading headline
Too much attention on it now for it to just go away without suitable punishment - i.e., deduction of 3 points

Some c-unt should get their head kicked in for this as well as being sacked if the points are taken away

Southend certainly can't make any complaints. They're lucky the league haven't relegated them already considering the financial mess they are in.

Id say the can of worms is already well and truly open.

Someone at the club seriously needs to be suspended or sacked over this affair, its an absolute joke that nobody knew about this suspension.

We will lose the 3 points and rightly so. I would expect that there will be someone at Pools' finding alternative employment if this cock up causes us to get relegated. I don't know where the responsibility lies.? Who looks after secretarial issues at Pools? Would it be that department? Or should the Director of Sport know?

No doubt the Easter weekend will be blamed but Liddle and Turner should of both known what a booking at Orient would mean.

Jonny I can see where your coming from, and agree someone has to be blamed and possible sacked from their position.

BUT in my opinion that problem doesn't lie with the actual secretary as silly as that sounds.

It's highly unlikely that the game was attended by her, meaning unless someone bothers to tell her prior to the next game (Monday in this instance she won't know Liddle's been booked)

Now I've sat with the Statistician Extrordinaire on many occasions and when something happens he makes a note of it on his mobile phone so he can update his website virtually immediately. Now I'm not suggesting someone from Pools should be given that job at every game but on the other hand why not. Least it will help especially when games are played over a bank holiday weekend.

So back to your point yes someone is answerable but that someone has to have attended it.

Pools have 2 weeks to respond, or in other words 2 weeks to hold some sort of internal investigation prior to appearing before the FA. Some action prior to that showing we getting our own house in order may well just help us in some form.

Some will say it's Liddle's fault but would he really know how many times he's been booked, Some will blame Turner/West , Turner more as D.O.S./manager surely he should have some knowledge. what other officials attended the Orient game , as other's will blame any who did.

We could do with that solicitor who gets players off speeding charges - Mr Loophole.
