I'm not even contemplating those things again!!!!!! Let's face it, at the moment third place seems a straight fight between ourselves, MK and Lincoln. Something tells me Lincoln will fall off the pace sooner or later as well, leaving it between us and the MK cheats. I can't see Stockport or Wycombe being consistent enough to mount a late sustained challenge either. Unfortunately that also means I think Swindon and Walsall will not drop from their current positions, although we can but hope!!
IF we take three points on Sat, then I think it will send the strongest message yet to rest of the division - 'cos up until now our unbeaten run has largely gone unnoticed by the media and fans of other clubs down here.
However I would gladly take a draw and not see Swindon go out of sight, which they would if they won on Saturday.

Our average points per game to date is 1.83. This suggests that we have enough to gain automatic promotion as to continue the average would leave us on 84 points whereas 81 has been the average points needed for 3rd place.

Fine, as long as somebody tells any two of Walsall, Swindon, MK and Lincoln that they have to settle for less points than they currently look like getting. It's been an unusually strong pack at the top of this year's division.

No one has ever not been promoted with less than 84 points. All of the teams above us will have a dodgy spell between now and the end of the season otherwise we're going to end up with 2 or 3 teams on 90+ points.

I'm more than happy to keep drawing all the aways and winning all the homes! 87 points should be enough to get straight up. If it isn't, well it's our fault for not starting the season stronger.
We have two key clutches of games left. The next two then a little later Lincoln-Stockport-Darlo. If we get ten points from those that will be bloody marvellous. The rest will be just a question of keeping focused and staying injury free.

Alternatively we could just go on another 9-win run and get it out of the way early

I have a feeling the final table is going to be a sickener for the teams in 4th and 5th who are going to find themselves within a midge's of 3rd but a magnitude in front of 6th and 7th.
