What an absolute disgrace that was. Utter shambles from the word go. Turners team selection was baffling, why play a left midfielder up front when you have a number of strikers availiable? IMO turner has to go now.
Flinders - his kicking was awful every time he got the ball he kicked it out for a throw in. 5/10

Austin - he's a very good player but every time he got the ball yesterday he just launched it down the line up towards monkhouse instead of giving it inside to gamble who was giving the option every time. Maybe this is turners fault. 6/10

Collins/Clark - won their fair share of headers against a big lad upfront but once again they completely bypassed the midifeld with their passing. 6/10

Mcsweeney - I actually thought he looked okay at right back, he won his fair share of tackles and he can get forward as well. 7/10

Humphreys - he's just not good enough anymore, for turner to play him on the left is a disgrace. however there was only him and sweeney that looked like they cared. they were the only ones trying to gee everybody up etc. 5/10

Sweeney - he runs around a lot but he doesnt have any quality on the ball. thought he was okay yesterday though. 7/10

Gamble - he had the worst game ive seen him have. however he was coming to get the ball and giving an option every time, but our defence completely bypassed the midifeld so he wasnt getting any of the ball. 3/10

Jones - did nothing. i think he's a very good player but he was anonymous today. 5/10

Monkhouse - no idea why turner plays him upfront, when he has many other options. Thought he did okay. 6/10

O'Donovan - didnt do anything today unfortunately but I still think he looks like a decent player. 5/10

The only bright spark from today IMO was jonny rowell, he wants the ball every time and he is a quality player. however he is too soft atm but i think he should be given a run in the first team, as he is no worse than any of the others that played today.
Turner Out.

Humphreys barely wasted a ball all day and at least played with some passion, no way on earth should have been playing on the left but I think deserved our highest mark amongst that bollocks yesterday.

FFS at least give the kid a chance, are you seriously judging him on twenty minutes yesterday when he actually produced a bit of quality which could have easily led to a goal? We have people in our midfield, yes I'm talking about Sweeney, who've been shite for ages, yet you are having a dig at Rowell after one sub appearnce sctatchinghead

Based on yesterday how the fuck can Humphreys have scored 5/10 and Sweeney 7/10?

Sweeney has been playing like a headless chicken for months doing lots of running for little reward and wasted our best chance of the game yesterday, Humphreys may be past his best but played with more desire and drive than our other players could muster, if the others worked as hard and productively as him yesterday then the result would have been a lot different.

Turner ( and others ) go on about how massive confidence is, and he's right.
How much confidence has Turner shown in Rowell??? How much has he actually demoralised the lad?
He finally gets twenty bloody minutes, in which he played the pass of the game, and straightaway he gets stick from some people.
I'll tell you what...........lets give him the pitch time that others in our midfield have had in recent years and then make a judgement.

All i'm saying is I haven't seen evidence of his quality yet and if h was so good he'd be starting as te other midfield players aren't doing it. It's not crucifying anyone it's an observation. I would love to see the kid become the next big thing.

Maybe he would have started a few games IF we had a manager who knew the first thing about football and footballers.
We will never know how good or bad Rowell is until and unless he is given a chance.
Nobody is in a position to criticise for or against the lad based on what happened yesterday. In the twenty minutes or so he was on the pitch there weren't many more who had more or less than a clue than he had.
That is my obsevation for what it's worth.

Fair point and taken onboard. I really do hope he plays, plays well and keeps us up.

I stopped reading after he gave Humphreys 2 marks left that Sweeney.

OK I didn't really, I continued reading to see if the post got any better. It didn't.

Yeah, rowell has got a turn and can pick out a pass.
In the games I've seen him play for the reserves he has tended to drift in and out and his tackle isnt too great.
I'd say power has looked the better all round midfielder but he does'nt seem to get anything like the attention rowell gets.
I know turner isnt flavour of the month but he's no mug, if rowell was as good as people make out he'd be in the team.
and the difference yesterday between sweeney being an effective attacking midfielder or a headless chicken was about 2 inches.

I won the Champions League 2 years running with Bury on Championship manager about 3 years ago and turned Andy Bishop into a 14 million pound asset.

I have never tried my very hardest to get a team relegated 3 times, succeeding once, failing by default another time and then on the verge of making it 2 out of 3 the next.

TPP > Turner.

They offered me the job after I was doing such a fantastic in non-league. I had a Mrs at the time and she liked shopping so she was quite happy with Bury as the Trafford Centre was on our doorstep. I had other offers as time went on but unlike others I didn't just fck a team off as soon as a better deal came my way.

I have to say that's very admirable deciding to stick with Bury and it obviously paid off with the champions league victories.

the only problem is letting a woman's shopping preferences influence your decisions. That will more often than not get you into bother.
