Sounds like it was a dire 1st half and the game was a little bit better 2nd half!!!! confised

Pools missed a couple of easy chances to grab the 3 points!!!! sadx

But we got a point....will that be enough come the end of the season???? sctatchinghead

Your thoughts people!!!!

A good result, defeat would have been terrible.

I would have settled for a point before the game - the important thing was to stop them winning. Of course it is a bit disappointing when we could have sneaked it but it is still a good result. Three wins and two draws at least from the remaining ten games and we should be ok - its gonna be tight though...

And we should/could pick up those 11 points from the remaining home matches. But some points from the 5 aways would be nice.

I also listened to the game on 'Pools Player.

The first half was quite possibly the worst 45 minutes of a game involving 'Pools that I have listened to - the tension surrounding both clubs wanting to avoid losing to each other ruined that half.

You could tell from that 1st half that the game would have 0-0 draw written all over it so both teams could claim a safe point.

Well done to 'Pools though for opening the game up in the second half, otherwise it would have been the worst match I've ever listened to.

I'm not surprised the Tranmere fans booed at full time to be honest.

Of course I'm pleased that we managed to pick up a point in the process, but as far as I'm concerned, our play at the moment suggests the end of the season has arrived, there are far more inconsistent teams below us that look more likely to get relegated than us, though I know I shouldn't count my chickens.

I'm just looking forward to the summer now.

avoiding defeat was imperative and at last they did that in an away match

Tuesday is a write-off really, but now Pools have to get a win against Swindon which won't be easy.

I would say a draw in that match won't be enough in all honesty because it heaps so much more pressure on the following match to stay out of the bottom 4

I don't necessarily think we'll have to beat Swindon.

I think we should be looking for wins against Stockport, Wycombe, Leyton Orient, Exeter etc, a couple of draws here and there. Do that and I think we'll be OK.

Can I just point out that until the Tranmere game, we had only been involved in 2 goal-less draws this season. MK Dons (A) and Brentford(H)

Both games were followed by away games Coventry (LGC1) and Swindon. We won both , Coventry AET1-0 and Swindon 2-0.

I'll go for a hat trick of victories following 0-0 draws. History on our side this season. rolfl rolfl Yes, I'm grasping at straws, but what the hell. A 1-0 victory and everything looking a lot more rosey.

You can never really complain about an away draw, its always a point gained.

No game is a write off, I expect the lads to go and get stuck in and do a job. I couldn't give a shite about Southampton having more fans and passed glories. One of the problems we have had this season is that Turner has made excuses before we even kick off, fans and management need to be positive at this stage.

The trouble is we lack quality and Southampton don't and that is why we will lose. We won't see out a goaless draw and we can't score so it's obvious what will happen. I am not having an easy dig at CT or anyone but that is the situation.

We are so lacking in quality that CT thought an out of form left midfielder was the answer upfront and an out of form midfielder with no pace at all was the answer to the left flank. Bafling just bafling when we have 2 strikers and a MacKay ( not sure how to describe him ) on the bench.

Positives from the game......i wasn't there but it sounds like McSweeny has found his role and Big Ben back at the back and a clean sheet.

Maybe if we'd played with 2 strikers instead of a forward and a midfielder we might have got the 3 points.
If there's 1 away game we should seriously have targatted for the 3 points it's the Tranmere game.
Turner boils my blood. Negative tactics and another poor performance.
He should let the fans who were planning to travel to the game what his team and tactics were going to be before they set off!!

The pitch looked fine and there wasn't anyone skidding or falling over so the conditions couldn't be blamed.

Players on both sides lacked basic skills and time and time again possession was won and then lost because of needing four and five touches to control the ball, Humphries was as much to blame for this as anyone on the Pools side but there was little to choose between them. The panicky hoof then took over and for the majority of the game the ball was fifty foot in the air.

In contrast with most of the other players Collins looked in control of his game.

It improved a bit in the second half and Pools kicking into the visitors end had one or two passing movements that threatened goal.

In the second half it was pouring down but didn't produce any more errors than were happening before the rain was so bad.

The best chance was in the second half when Pools came out of their own half leaving Tranmere thin at the back, there was a ball put through which should've been stopped by their central defender which he missed when it seemed to bounce over his foot, O'Donovan ran past him down the middle with only the goal keeper to beat, shot straight at him and missed the best chance of the game.

There were some heroes at Prenton Park last night........it was those who did a 300mile round trip to see a game of header tennis. I was lucky enough to be in Frodsham FC drinking Speckled Hen for 10:15pm.

The first half was as genuine a case of two bald men fighting over a comb as I have seen all season! We were arguably the worse of the two teams with absolutely no control in the middle of the pitch. Subsequently all of our attacks fizzled out after one pass. Shocking.

In the second half Tranmere, if anything, got worse but I am happy to say that we showed real improvement and were we not so utterly devoid of confidence infront of the posts we would have won. O'Donovan missed the best chance of the game following an almighty fook up by their centre back. We then spurned the second best chance of the match when, following good work from O'Donovan again down the right, Monkhouse totally mishit his shot from 8 yards out.

Humphreys, predictably, did nothing to justify his selection. Gave the ball away on pretty much every occasion he got it and just doesn't seem capable of winning 50/50 balls. A strange selection indeed.

All in all I would have settled for a point at the start and so I'm reasonably happy. But the truth is the best chances of the game fell to us and we really should have left Prenton Park as winners.
