Happy St. Patrick's Day to all fellow bunkerites.
If anyone knows of a decent 'Irish' pub in the area can you let me know please.
Cheers

The only one I know locally is in Newcastle, opposite the station. Can't remember its name, but it has obvious clues as to its identity daubed all over it. Picture of Guinness, shamrocks etc etc!

And most of them are about as Irish as Idi Amin. Today is a second Christmas for the breweries which is why they promote it so much. I bet fewer than 1 in 100 who go out drinking guiness today have the vaguest idea who the farking hell St Patrick was other than he had something to do with Ireland.

the tricolour has overtaken the St Patrick's cross as the symbol for the day, which is why some of those in the North get miffed about it!!! It's their patron saint's day too!!!

Hardly surprising given that New York has one of the largest Irish populations of any city on the planet.

I do know that as been their loads of times my unlce lives there, for some reason every time I go over people think my accent is Irish, stupid Yanks.

I also love the way Americans say "oh I am Irish", really which part of Ireland are you from?. "i wasnt but my Grandad is Irish". I once said to a guy in a bar after this comment, "oh I am Irish as well", really?, "yeah I have an Irish Setter and drink Guiness".

There's a pub down the marina masked up as an Irish bar, I've been in once or twice and it's ok if not particularly Irish.

Happy birthday PC,you share it with my daughter

As for the Paddys day thing, all thats going on is the Guinness brewery says "Hey everyone go get pissed & party" & everyone says "Okay then" because people will accept any excuse for a piss up.

If you have trouble finding it, just look for a bloke (who apparently goes by the name of Mutley) playing with a box of matches standing close by it.
