I agree with everyone the Tranny game is a must not lose game. What worries me is since christmas is take out a one off ODonovan hat trick & we have:

Behan 1 & injurred
Boyd 1

No other striker has scored

So midfields with goals: Jones 3, Sweeney 2, Monky 1 aince xmas have to be in midfield
with Gamble. The problem is 14 goals from 12 games. Taek out Carlisle & Southend 7 goals in 10 games! Nuff said! Everytime we have gone down in this division we have had no one get double figures in temrs of goals.

So if the management is considering changes because we beat the Toons ressies are we seriously going to consider Larkin & Mackay ???????????????
The back 4 and midfield 4 will be the same as most weaks so who partners O'Donnovan? I know he is as weak as putty but Bjornsson with O'Donnovan may be interesting given Boydy's picking out a pass does not compensate for his lack of movement? What other changes could the management consider?

I think a lot of people are quick to blame strikers when they dont score goals for a period of time. I appreciate that it is their job to score goals but our team just isnt playing well. If a forward gets lots of chances but just keeps missing the target then fair enough, replace him but its not as if Boyd has missed many easy chances. We are just not creating much as a team and this is down to tactics. Boydy knows where the goal is but he needs the right player alongside him and the ball played on the deck. I dont think it would matter which of our strikers played up front right now, non of them would be prolific on account of how the team is playing. Its the lack of creativity to blame for the lack of goals. Im not shy of criticising players and I appreciate that Boydy can be a lazy sod but thats how he often is when the side play the wrong way. If we got the ball down and played as we should then I have no doubt that Boydy would be an asset.

Bringing Mackay in would be ridiculous and yet another new low in Turners 'reign'.

i would suggest this...

..............................Flinders...............................

Austin..............Collins.........Liddle..............Hartley

............Jones.........Gamble.........Monkhouse..........

....................O'donovan............Brown.................

.................................Boyd...............................

basically both Brown & O'donovan sitting just behind Boydy, giving them plenty of space to run with the ball and support him.

When we are under the cosh, they can both drop back as wingers in a 4-5-1 or one of them drop back with the other up front with Boyd in a 4-4-2.

that would, however, need someone withsome tactical nous to pull it off..........so back to the drawing board!!!

Bjornsson wasn't in the Ressies squad, is that because he is standing by to start on Friday, injured, or not considered even good even for the second XI?

Start the big fooker and leave him upfront and hope he has one of his "on" games and wins and holds it up.. proper away team style

Give Boydy the service he thrives on and he'll score goals. If you lump high balls to him you're wasting your time.

To be honest our current position is no surprise to me. I have been expecting this since early on in the season when quite a lot of people were saying give Turner a chance.
I am a great believer in form and Turner's form has been woeful for years now.

If we survive, and it is a big if, it will not be down to Turner's expertise but more to the inability of others.

I am totally amazed that he has been left in charge, really amazed.

The only conclusion I can come to is that he is fulfilling the precise wishes of IOR.

How else would he keep the job?????

The biggest problem is the defence.
I think we have kept 1 clean sheet since Xmas.
Hartley needs to be taken out of the left back position, I'd play him in the centre of defence with Ben Clark.
I'd put Sweeney at right back and Austin at left back.
Monkhouse on the left, Gamble and Rowell in the middle, Brown on the right.
Boyd and O'donovan up front.
Simple. Something has to change in defence we're conceding far too many goals.

Bjornsson was at the reserve match last night, in the stand watching it with his little girl

derwent's point about Turner's instructions from above, may well be a valid point
