"When your one on one with the keeper, they're the hardest chances"

They were all very good finishes deserving of praise what is he meant to say "My wife would have tucked them away"

He's just giving credit where it's due.

It's also worth pointing out we won despite being saddled with the nightmare of a 2-0 half time lead, the dreaded "hardest scoreline in football". Turners deserves credit for his stirring half time words.

Any half decent striker worth his salt should not find one on ones difficult in anyway.

Surely Tree has a point like sctatchinghead

We should put together a book of all turners stupid quotes this season. Even Ron Atkinson would cringe at a lot of them
It would also take years to write given that it would be twice the size of war and peace.

I wouldn't advise it, Turner would just put out out a list of Trees posts in retaliation and that would put the Encyclopedia Brittanica to shame..... rolfl .

A few seasons ago I went to a LDV vans trophy game at Glanford Park between Scunny and us. We lost the game 1-0 to a dubious penalty after absolutely dominating it.
In the first half we had about thirteen decent chances, I kid you not, including at least seven one on ones involving Eiffion............he missed the lot.
Ben Clark got sent off having come on as a second half substitute.

Seriously though, if Turner had said exactly the same thing and we were in a play off place it wouldn't have been noticed. We should learn to differentiate between jusrified criticism and jumping on the snipers bandwagon.

True, maybe we are just noticing such silly quotes because of the position we find ourselves in. I certainly dont remember turner talking half as much shiite in the past, he talked sense when he first arrived at the club.

I doubt he's changed Grave, but during his first spell at the club he was popular and our expectations were not as high we had been watching Fourth Division football for ten years. We were about as well educated about decent football as a Loid.

For all we know he's been talking shite from day one and we were just too thick realise. I used to think Kona Hislop was alright because he brother played in the Premiership. If we’d have signed Colin Larkin then we’d have rechristened him ‘The Irish Pele’.

Or maybe we are all wrong two nil is the hardest lead in football and if we'd have won all our recent away games and not lost them that would be promotion form.

One on ones aren’t that easy though, plenty of things can go wrong like a heavy touch or a defender with pace getting back or even the keeper being brave. He’s giving someone credit for three good goals which is fair enough.

fair enough but one-on-ones are a lot easier than being 30 yards from goal with ten opposing players infront of you.

I suppose Turner must have been comparing a one-on one with an open goal

the point Turner made was that O'donovan had so much time, he could have changed his mind and messed it up. One on ones are notoriously difficult, simply because a striker is best when he uses pure instinct. When they have time to think and contemplate things, they can quite often choose the wrong option.

For me its a perfectly valid statement that was made and all this post shows is the, quite frankly, pathetic levels some will go to in an attempt to find faults.

I will always remember Joe Allon's advice on the promotion video about making your mind up and sticking to it otherwise you miss.

If we won 3-0 every week for all I care Chris Turner could confess to enjoying warming up young children in the microwave then having them for his tea in his post match comments.
