Ile go for..

Flinders-8 did well when called upon.
Austin-7 did well up against a tricky winger (Scannel).
Liddle-7 made some good tacles and looked fairly comfortable throughout.
Collins-7 same as liddle did well against a tall striker.
Hartley-6 often gave the ball away and looked ok whilst defending.
Jones-7 for me drifted in and out of the game however threatened whilst running at thier defence.
Sweeney-6.5 had little efect in the first half looked brighter in the second half.
Gamble-7.5 broke there play up very affectively and played a part in the first goal.
Monkhouse-7 like Jones drifted in and out of the game looked danderous whilst running at the defence.
Boyd-8 controlled the ball well throughout and played some excellant balls to O'Donovan which to me looks a great partnership.
O'Donovan-10 took his goals well and used his pace to great effect looks like a great signing so far.

I thought Boyd had a really good game. He was all over the pitch. Excellent workrate and nice to see we now have geniune options up front. Can't argue with them ratings either.

agree with the ratings too. Boyd & o'donovan, at home, look like a very good combination. And with Browny coming back and getting sharper, we look like we have real quality going forward.

Im a little surprised by how many people are saying it was a comfortable or one sided game. I felt it was pretty even in terms of possession and we didnt seem to create much more than Sarfend did.

I thought their no 12 and 26 were excellent. 26 was a diving silly boy like.

well we won 3-0 and i honestly don't think we got out of 2nd gear. from the second the 1st goal went in, the result never appeared in doubt.

Strange how we see things differently. I thought their number 26 was pap and spent most of his time on his arse. Ironically, the one time he did stay on his feet, he won a free kick.

sctatchinghead

No one could get near him, and when we eventually got a foot in he was too strong for us and kept the ball anyway. Him and that other midfielder were 2 of the best players on the pitch.

I thought he was pap.

I said nothing about their number 14. (as it happens, he looked a class act)

HOLLAND

Their no.12 Scannell had genuine pace, at one point coming from behind O'Donovan to take the ball off him. The no.2 looked useful as well, always a threat going forward.
I thought they knocked the ball about quite well, at one point in the first half they had us penned in our own half for 10 mins, which I suppose makes the 3-0 win a good result.

They'd obviously marked out Jones as a danger, as everytime he got the ball they doubled up on him.

Funny how people see a football game differently. I thought there number 26 was poor , to say the least. he played a ball once towards the CK that was so bad it was unbelievable.

Football is a funny old game.

i dont think any of our midfield players had a particularly good game, southend dominated in that area even when down to 10 men.

they have hit the inside of the post and missed two free headers from inside the 6 yard box.

we have had a bloke that had 3 chances and scored 3 goals.

that was the difference.

i genuinely think we will need to play beter next week to get a result.

Once more football is a funny old game.

I thought we were comfortable and if we'd stepped (not to much) it up would have won far more easily than we did .

That's just the way it goes sometimes, we were brought down to the level of the opponents who I thought weren't very good. You just beat what's in front of you. Despite Southend's chances, I thought we could have played better if we needed to.

I thought they had a couple of decent players and at 2-0 I was still uncomfortable and if they got one back it would have been a bit squeaky bum time especially with our record of giving away leads.

Agree that we didn't get out of 2nd gear and that Gamble is looking better and better each time I see him, he is just every where and always an option and comfortable on the ball. Total quality and can't wait to see him next season after a rest and more time to get used to his surroundings. Monky was dissapointing thought he drifted in and out too much.

Jones was wasteful and tried to do too much at times but he is quality and CT if your reading, give the boy a contract for 3 years before we lose him. Boyd and O'Donovan despite sounding like an Irish Folk combo look good together and compliment each others styles. I can't wait for Brown to get a start and what a midfield it would be with Gamble Jones Brown and Monkhouse.

Hope the pitch gets a rest over the next couple of weeks so we can get some more flow to our game and play with tempo and style.

It's amazing what a win does to your morale
