Is Hodcroft either very naive or just arrogant?

If he truly believes Turner is the man to get us out of this mess then he is very naive. Some will say loyal to his man, which is a commendable trait in some circumstances but this has seriously gone beyond a very bad joke.

Arrogant. Its been said numerous times that he doesn't give two hoots what the supporters think, say or want....it just seems to make his even more stubborn. That is incredibly dangerous in the world of professional football.

Hartlepool United is an IOR company so when will the real boss of IOR take any interest? IOR is a business so if the oil side of the business was going through a tough spell would they leave it to chance and hope that things just get better or would they intervene?

Having worked in the cut throat North Sea Oil and Gas business for 15 years I have seen plenty to know what Oil companies do, and that is move very quickly to stem losses and make improvements.

As we stand now Pools are funded, heavily, year after year by IOR. We lose money and they make up the shortfall. To the tune of millions of pounds since 1998. Currently crowds are down, so income through the gate is down, programme sales are down, food, beer, lottery tickets etc etc. When we go down the loss they are suffering now will be doubled.

So are they planning for and prepared to accept an even bigger loss next season because they must know what is coming if relegation happens. What kind of business can stare even bigger losses in the face and not try to do anything to stop it.

Does Ken Hodcroft's boss take any notice at all or does he just let HUFC become Hodcroft's play thing and leave him too it. How much more money can IOR lose on Pools or afford to lose before it all goes tits up?

I don't care one bit about Conference Centres behind the Millhouse or 2 tiered Stands at the Rink End or improved catering facilities. What I want is a competent Management team and a bunch of players who don't give up and go missing after conceding the first goal every week and who show pride and passion on the pitch.

4 points minimum was required from the Huddersfield and Carlisle games and the chances are we'll get none or one at best. Chris Turner won't resign because he knows that this is his last job as manager of a professional football team. Nobody else will employ him because he doesn't have a good record anywhere after the year 2001.

You make valid points but it was waste of effort. I dont think you really need to convince anyone on here, we all agree. Unfortunately there is a huge divide between the fans and the club (or should that be "company") and I dont think Hodcroft gives a damn.

It takes me a bit longer to get home from a Pools game than most so this was boiling up inside me since 4.55pm yesterday

This is about the ninth time time I've posted this but then again it must be the 9000th time I've read that CT is the antichrist/killed Kennedy/ eats babies etc. from other people so here goes:

If you compare the current side to Wilson's last then every one of the fans's concerns have been addressed. Better keeper, proper full-backs, decent holding midfielder, attempt to replace Porter with skillful forward. As per usual we have had a James Brown injury that has cost us. We try to recruit players to play in front of sub-conference crowds where many of the 'fans' attend to use the game as a catharsis for whatever pain they have in their lives by abusing rather than supporting players.

Chris Turner is a decent guy who loves Pools. He has the complete trust of IOR for a reason. The players he has brought in in Hartley, Austin,Flinders, Gamble, Boyd are a massive improvement. He has successfully reinvented Gary Liddle who had a dreadful season last year. He has managed the collapse in form and fitness of Ben Clark. He has made sure that we never again have to watch a forward combination of McKay and Foley who had all the penetration of Pele without his blue pills.

Almost everyone on here looked at the fixture list and said that November to February would be brutal. It has been. But all you can ask I think of the team getting the worst gates in the division is to beat rubbish when it is put in front of you. The only time really in the brutal run when we didn't was Gillingham which was desperately disappointing.

In Pools supporters' hearts, though by god most love a dramatic whinge, no-one is realistically looking at the remaining fixtures and thinking that we are going to be relegated.

CT ripped apart that gutless squad of arseholes that began at Bristol Rovers last year. He has rebuilt. He's addressed the concerns at Keeper, full-back, holding midfielder hopefully upfront. Other than Southampton away we've played the difficult fixtures. Give the bloke a break.

So that's why we don't hear from him very often.

Hodcroft can be accused of being many things, but "very naive" he is not. I'm sure he is a very shrewd businessman, and what is plans or feelings are, he keeps very close to his chest ... despite "those in the know" will tell you on here.

No, Boyd has scored more goals for Pools in less games than Porter.

That for Pools is an achievement.

Porter could not have been forced to stay with blackmail and waterboarding. That isn't Turner's fault. The lad himself said that he'd enjoyed his time at Pools but was desperately disappointed to have played/stayed at such a low level. Now playing at the top level in his country and trying to force his small but significant claims to play in the world cup for them.

Of course Boyd at his best was a much better player than Porter.

But to bring Boyd back and to try and coax the 70% of the 2004/5 Boyd that seems to be all that is available is a valiant attempt to replace a very good, skillful striker with similar.

Where's Porter then? That's right, he's gone home...where he wanted to go. He left Pools because he wanted to. Get over him man, he isn't here and hasn't got a scoring record as good as Boydy at Pools.

For 18 months Boyd was not only the best player I've seen at Pools in my 27 years as a supporter but he was the best player in a very good team. Last year in his best season Porter was by far the best player in a garbage Pools side.

But hey, what do I know apparently I 'know nothing about football and am embarassing myself'.

I've always believed that when you resort to personal abuse you've lost the argument but then maybe I'm wrong about that too.

Boydy is the best striker Pools have ever had, he's scored the most goals at the highest level Pools have played at. Even Brian Arrundale said last night that he was playing the ball about and bringing people into play with such class that you just don't see at League One level. He does that every week but those without a football brain can't see it.

He is our top scorer this season and will become eventually our highest goalscorer ever and contrary to popular opinion, he isn't overweight, isn't lazy and hasn't got a bad attitude.

He can do things with a football that Porter wouldn't be able to do on a Playstation.
