Surely if you haven't got any one decent at taking free kicks from long range then rather than having someone take them for the sake of it would it not be better to put a cross in for the likes of Collins, Monky, Boyd etc. As far as I can remember, Boyd, Austin and Jones have never scored a long range free kick for us and Liddle hasn't done in about 4 years.

Im sure the above 4 would at least have a bit of technique to try and bend it round the wall, or at least pass it to someone else. Not just blast it at the wall.

I'm not doubting that but if they're not regular free kick takers then they're not going to magically turn into one. It takes a serious amount of skill to beat a keeper from 25-30 yards and given we have some players with a good aerial threat I think we'd be better aiming for one of them rather than taking a pot shot.

At one point Liddle used to take anything within 30 yards.

yep, Liddle should take em, or at least mix it up a bit.

I've been of the opinion all season that Dennis Behan is shit, but I think his best place is on the bench - he can make an impact as a sub ie Leeds.

Just seen Football League Show and Ben Davies of Notts County scored a fantastic free kick yesterday. Over the wall with technique and pace curling into the top corner. He scores a few that way and delivers fantastic set pieces into dangerous area. You see them scored every week this way and very rarely does anyone succeed with a head down tw't of a shot hoping it will go in. Ohh for Shuggy Robertson who could hit them with sublime accuracy and power.

It just seems such a waste as we do not capitalise on the advantage of the free kick given in the first place.

I seem to recall seeing Austin score a cracking free kick for the loids on the telly when they were on live last season.

Lets be honest, when we have a free kick or corner now, you can hear just about everyone in the ground muttering I hope it's not the front post corner, 5ft high, that gets easily cleared, or the DB free-kick which hits the wall and is cleared. But again we keep serving up the same dross.

It's this blind faith in tactics that dont and have'nt worked all season that will cost us our Lg1 place, and I believe we're already well and truly screwed. Anyone who thinks we can win another 6 or 7 games this season is quite frankly living in cloud cuckoo land.

Welcome to the last rites of HUFC's Lg1 campaign.

At the reserves on Wednesday we witnessed two of the worst free kicks in my history of watching the game. One of Fredriksen's ended up on the half way line.

If the management can't teach them how to do the basics it's little surprise they struggle with the harder stuff.

Aye he did, he didnt get many chances to take them though for some reason. Worth a try though if Behan cant hit a cows arse with a banjo! By the way, what happened to Hugh Robertson? He was excellent at free kicks, just cant remember why he left you lot.
