…. And shit load of negatives (much like the football we are watching).

Positives;

Joe Gamble looks a really good player, wins back possession retains it and played some sublime passes (one second half was the best I’ve seen at the Vic for a while) and was unlucky not to score.

Neil Austin was quality again, before his very good goal his two pieces of skill in tight areas first half were excellent, as entertaining as it got all night which is saying something without being derogatory to his good performance.

A few others had solid games.

Negatives;

I can’t even begin to touch on the them all but what we are watching at the moment is awful, and not worth £20 of anyone’s money.

We have one paced out of touch strikers. What sort of condition is Adam Boyd in? He’s about a stone overweight he needs a rocket up his arse. Behan never ever looks like scoring, the rest aren’t worth mentioning we need a forward. Saying that Boydy is probably our best option as he’s most likely to score but he needs to have a look at himself, what is his motivation at the moment? I suppose he’s living at home and earning decent wedge why should he give a fuck? I wish Neale Cooper hadn’t got the best out him because then he wouldn’t frustrate us so much we probably wouldn‘t rate him as highly !!

We pick a five man midfield without some of the main elements that system requires namely creativity, invention, and pace. Sweeney is so low on confidence I feel sorry for him, he never hides he still makes his runs but when he gets the ball it’s hard to watch. It’s like a hot potato, and as soon as it doesn’t go right down goes his head. I don’t see what role Ritchie is playing in a five man midfield? Is he the holding player who breaks up play, no that is Gamble so what is his role in the team. He didn’t actually have that bad a game tonight but I still question his continued selection when you have young lads like Richie Jones and Jonny Rowell waiting in the wings.

Finally, 2,465 need I really add to that?

Gutted.

I mentioned recently that this 5 man midfield is purely there to try and disguise the inadequecies of Sweeney and Humps and not a piece of tactical genius or there to get the best out of the squad. Your right it needs Jones and Rowell in there who have some pace and invention to make the most of the quality that Gamble brings. For years now Sweeney has had no touch or passing ability and he only got his game for his goal threat which has completely dried up. It's like watching Kevin Hendersons decline after his season of 18 or so goals, painful

We should try and get Nardiello back on loan or spend some cash to at least get a goal threat and have some pace in behind because all we do is play in front of defences. we'll get mullered on saturday absolutely wanked on.

I mentioned Nardiello tonight in the pub after the game, he'd have been a better signing than about eight of the ones Turner has made. He is exactly the type of flair we lack.

We've missed the boat now he made Blackpool's winner on Saturday against Watford.

the lack of pace up front is staggering. Turner last season had porter, nardiello, parker & guy. Now im not saying that parker and guy are the answer, but at least with a bit of pace we could open up teams and get them running back to their own goal and puttin teams under pressure.

Our only striker with pace is larkin and he is playing midfield.

In a day and age when pace in football seems like a priority, we are badly, badly lacking.
