Why is it any player who has played for Pools and then leaves to go to another club always seems to score against us?

Duffy, Nelson, Robson, Westy did it FFS, Spike Lee, Boydie, Howard, Fletcher, Shucker, Betsy, Thomas Moore, Butler, Llewelyn FFS that's just off the top of my head. I know it's the old cliche, but it must happen to us more than anyother club. I'd love to see the stats of % of players who leave us to join another club who come back and score against us in the next game.

Quite simply you only notice if they DO score against you. If they dont score, no one batters an eye lid. The same as when a manager wins manager of the month and then wins the next game.

I thought managers always lost after they won Manager of the Month.

This season has been as exception to that.

I reckon the only Ex Player we've come across (so to speak  ) who hasn't scored is Kevin Betsy. Keigan Parker didn't but the last person he scored with has since died so he hardly counts does he? Ian Moore and Chris Shuker don't count either in my book because erm... they are Scouse.

Nelson, Robson, Easter, and Duffy have.

Fletch played against us loads of times, but never scored. Moore, shuker, butler haven't scored past us either. But I know what you mean!

Your right, but Moore played a blinder against us in a 3-1 defeat and won a penalty which I thought he took and scored and Shuker had a shot deflected in by Nelse, but you got my point. I bet if we played Ipshit even ALB would score and save a penalty!

That's the one Betsy scored in a game against us days after we almost signed him permanently when he was still on loan to us, only for Oldham to offer him more money. I remember I was on holiday so missed the news of this in the press and when I saw the scorer on Sky I was mighty confused. Git

We've probably signed a few players who have scored against their old clubs.

Only really Andy Monkhouse springs to mind, if we played Swindon every week he'd be worth two million!!

How surprised will you be when Nelse scores in a few games time for his second of the season to be followed by Robson scoring after a mazy run and shot in the home game?

It's a good job Nardiello isn't in league one because the odds of him scoring would be thousands to one on. It's alomost like our players don't remember what former colleagues would do and you'd expect that ex players should receive a little extra attention. My point was that they seem to want to score against us more than our toothless spineless doyles want to prevent them.

Compare that to the record of those players who had NOT previously played for us: 1901 goals in 17507 games, or once every 9.2 games. :

edit i think i understand now. You mean our ex players scoring against us before they had ever played for us right?

No, I just mean players scoring against us that were not ex-Poolies. Whether they later became Poolies or not isn't really relevant is it? When Tony Lormor scored all those goals against us for Lincoln and Mansfield I don't remember thinking "bloody typical, why do the players we are going to sign in a few years time ALWAYS score against us!"

So only 1900 different players have scored against us in 17,000 games??

No, you misunderstand. Pools haven't played anywhere near 17,000 games since 1908 never mind 1980! But I am counting all players in all games. Yesterday Duffy scored and Coles didn't, so 1 in 2 of the the ex-Poolies scored (1 in 2 "games"); of the other 11 outfield players Lines scored and the others didn't, so the non-ex-Poolies scored 1 in 11 "games".

Sorry just me being thick then!

i still dont think i get it
