Right now I'd be happy to settle for 3 points.

50 has always proved to be the magic number so I will stick with 50.

It's gonna be hard work based upon what we've all seen this season and I think it will be a major struggle if we lose on Tuesday. I think the blow to morale may prove to be too hefty to recover from.

I think Stockport and Wycombe are gone so only 2 relegation spots will need filling come the business end of the season. I can easily see Oldham and Tranmere putting a decent run together to pull out of the bottom four. I also have a nasty feeling that all of the other teams beneath us, with the possible exception of Leyton Orient (boy will that be a big game at their place), have the capability of putting together a decent run of form based on results and reports.

Whilst I don't think we'll lose the majority of our must win home games between now and the end of the season I can easily see us drawing a lot of them which ultimately proved to be our undoing last time we were relegated.

It'll certainly be interesting (and at times excruciating) viewing!

personally i think the longer we go without winning games the harder the task just to stay up becomes. we cant just write off the norwich/leeds/southampton/huddersfield games as defeats. that way 21 points from 19 games becomes 21 points from 15.

this "easiest run in" of all time includes home games against colchester, brighton, and swindon, and aways at brentford and walsall among our last 9 games. all winnable on paper, but you wouldnt put your life on us winning all of them. to be honest the way its going even the aways at yeovil and orient and the homes against southend and exeter dont exactlylook bankers based on our games against these sides earlier in the season.

the task will be a lot easier if we could sneak a win at leeds or southampton. and certainly gillingham on tuesday is a must win game. anything other than 3 points in that one and i think everyone will be worried.

Your point about our run in is spot on. Essentially we don't have a single performance in the bank to suggest we are robust enough to win the games we need to win. Based on current evidence it is all too easy to imagine us being frustrated by Exeter, Brighton and, for that matter, Gillingham on Tuesday.

I reckon we will get another 9 points with Ct in charge.

pools went out of this division with 50 in 2005/06

the season before torquay went down with 51

and the season before that grimsby went down with 50.

Admirable knowledge sir. Should have put "ish" after the 50 as a safety net!

The phrase 'easiest of run ins' should set the alarm bells ringing, y'know what Pools are like in these situations.
I bet some people have them points 'banked' and earning interest.

i would certainly take this years run in compared to last years.

We need to get 3 points QUICKLY to at least restore a small amount of confidence. in addition a good performance would be a godsend.

If Turner or A N Other (you never know!) can get the lads believing in themselves then i honestly can't see relegation being a major worry going into the last few games of the season. Call me Turners son, call me one of the rose tinted brigade, call me what you want, i genuinely believe what i have wrote.

I have my head well and truly above the parapet, fire away.

Things will be a lot clearer after Tuesday. If we lose, or even draw, then I think we'll go down unless four other teams prove to be poorer than ourselves.

As I said earlier we don't have a single recent performance in the bank to suggest we can win the games we have to.

Why does Turner think that a top half finish (i.e. 12th), will be the third best in 101 years?

Apart from the two play-off seasons, does he not realise that we finished 11th in 1991/92?

i don't think its Turner who is suggesting its the 3rd best finish, i might be wrong though

What worries me is the inability to win two or three games on the trot. This means we never get any sort of momentum, and confidence remains low. Like last season, our fate will probably end up in the hands of the other teams... sadx

As others have said on here previously, week by week, this is turning into an almost exact repeat of the 2005/06 relegation season.

Ken Hodcroft has stated that he realised that mistakes were made that year (and the situation was allowed to drift on until it was too late), and that he would not allow it to ever happen again.

The thing is, it seems that it is happening again, in a very similar manner.

And nothing appears to be being done about it ......

Grave, honestly your avatar looks like what David Furnish's old fella probably looks like after a night of 'passion' it's the most phallic shaped piece of turd I've ever clapped eyes on and to be honest it's making me feel a bit queasy.

Look the bookies dont miss much, weve come in from 5 to 1 last week to go down, to 4 to 1 now, there's a shed-load of money going on us, and to be honest I'm half tempted me'self as it's a good bet. I think we're fooked, and I can't share people's optimism that we'll stay up, once in the losing habit it's difficult to get out of it.

Sorry, I'd like to be optimistic, but I've been following Pools too long now, and I know a loser when I see one. The writings on the wall, and I cant see us winning another 5 games this season.

Yes.

Take the 'n' and the 'e' from "Ben" and the 'e' and the 'd' from "reading".

You lot need to get a grip.

Have some faith.

A while ago, our Manager told us we would see the best of this team in the new year.

Three games ago he told us we were going to push for the play offs.

And now you are all talking like we are down.

Now either you lot are right, or the manager is. I know who I believe.

nice one. clappp rolfl
