age you would let your kids go on holiday alone?

Situation with our 16 year old has reached impasse, as in:

"Me'n'Emma'n'Emily have decided to go to France for our holidays'
"$%^@**?"
"Well...erm...OK...Cornwall, then"
"@<***%£$"
Stony silence
"Why don't you go youth hostelling up on Teesdale?"
"@&?%$£@@"

i'd say the day for a kid to go on holiday alone is the day they can afford to pay for it themselves.

So glad i have 2 boys-

 recently whilst booking my cruise in the travel agents next to WH Smith i was sat next to a group of 8 18 year old lasses-all stunnas by the way- and they were making it quite clear why they were going to Ibiza and what they were getting when they got there.

The look on the travel agents face (just a young lad) said it all :sweet:

if you're whinging about your kids going on holiday too young, and are then asked who's paying for it, you'd look a bit daft saying "I am" wouldn't you

16? no chance in hell!

Even at 18 I would be dead against it but would not be able to stop it. Mind you, I'm not mad keen on her going out alone until shes 30, and even then she'll have to be in before 10.

No, I agree, there's no chance of our letting her go anywhere on her own at 16, I was just thinking ahead.

This is why I'm glad I've got three lads. The old saying is that lads can get girls into trouble, and girls have to live with the consquences.

I was in the RAF at 17, and was responsible for anything I did, so I need my lads to be responsible for anything they get up to. If they can pay for their holidays, they have to be responsible for what they get up to on those holidays.

I'm not sure I would want to have her. I would probably snap her in half.
