Having take twenty four hours to reflect before venting my spleen I now feel the need to sound off [ not an uncommon event, for me! ]
I was at a total loss to understand the formation that we started with. There was nobody at all playing wide left and I am still mystified as to what position Monkhouse was actually filling he appeared to be in a roaming role just behind the front two. It was as plain as the nose on your face that this was not working and yet Turner persevered until the bitter end.
I am also amazed that Behan was on the bench. I have always believed if you are fit enough for the bench you are fit enough to satart, unless of course CT feels that Bjornson is a better striker!
The lack of commitment in the side had to be seen to be believed, with the exception of Neal Austin, who has the advantage of knowing what it's like when your paycheck bounces, perhaps some of his colleagues should be made to share that experience.
All over the pitch there were players making crass and basic errors and looking to blame someone else. Tony Sweeney and Scott Flinders were particularly guilty of this. Poor Ben Clark will probably never recover from the absolute pasting he took today and Liddle proved that he needs a strong ball winner to play alongside, hopefully Collins will be back in on Tuesday.
The Irish lad looked average at best but at least he can only get better The two Ritchie's played like the two Ronnies but without as much mobility.
Monkhouse was totally anonymous and Boyd gave up after their second goal.
As I've said before you can forgive lack of ability but the lack of effort displayed yesterday was diabolical. If we had alternatives I would leave everybody but Austin and Behan back in Hartlepool on Tueday to watch the youth team for a lesson in whole hearted commitment.
