found out at the age of 26 I have gout  The condition is in my family thought it would be a result of the drinking over christmas but only cam on in last two days and i havent toutched a drop since new years eve. Evidently its come about from me loosing 5 pounds in weight over last week and eating the following over the last two weeks, liver, kidney, mussels, pinto/kidney and lima beans (chilli), mushrooms, asparagus, turkey and lots of spicey food.

I was raving about the slow cooker the other day but the bastard has given me a toe that looks like a plum tomatoe and hurts like hell. So from now on only alcohol i can have for two months is white wine (all other drinks are high in purines) and cant eat my favourite foods, hoenstly I would have been better on my liquid diet over christmas.

found loads of good info on the nhs website about it, basically i now have it because i have been eating like a pig (loads of good stuff hence me loosing weight) but all rich stuff.

Apparently cherries, pineapples are really good as well as toms for preventing it, the doc said I was doing the right thing by trying to loose weight and staying off the booze.

Me dad used to suffer terribly from the gout and this was before they'd invented anything to ease it off. One day the poor bugger was sitting with his foot on a cushion on a stool with the joint of his big toe throbbing like things that throb do.

Enter young Pu-Li-Kev aged about eight, spotted me Dad's throbbing toe and gave it a slap to see what would happen.

Yuri Gagarin wasn't the first man in space, it was me dad.........thats when out kid learnt to run.

My wife suffers with gout in her foot and was in terrible pain with it. Her doctor sent her to see a specialist at the General Hospital. He examined her and said he'd give her an injection in her foot. When she saw the size of the needle she nearly fainted, he said with a smile on his face, if you scream please try and muffle it as much as you can. She said it hurt like hell but it's taken the pain away. Trouble is, its in her wrist now, she says no needle no way.
