Presumably Mr Gigha feels that this man's actions were brave enough to be applauded on their own terms rather than against the context of other "immigrants". If I remember rightly black youths and knife crime were a popular subject for posts by Mr I a while back so there are two reasons why you could argue that it wasn't Mr Gigha who missed the point.

He's hardly unusual in looking forward to the death of Thatcher is he? I'd assumed Mr I's Thatcher obsession was part wind-up. Most Thatcherites seem to be looking for bites all the time, they exist in a sub-Clarkeson fantasy world where baiting the "PC Brigade" (copyright Daily Mail, circa 1985) is a worthwhile hobby. They can't moan when they get a bit back and, to be fair, the Rusty Lady's main accolyte didn't.

They follow their faith quietly and serenely and do not try convert the world to it. His surname Singh means Lion which no doubt this man was.These people have fought with honour for Britain all around the world.

IMHO Mr I is correct in his assertion that these ARE the type of people we want to allow into our country. NOT hate preaching tvvats ( who unfortunately seem to almost universally seem to follow a certain religious faith)

I find it weird that you would say you find it weird that somebody would look forward to somebody's death and then go on to call for the execution of Gordon Brown. Won't argue too much though as I'd happily watch him fry live on telly as a warm up to Thatcher's cadaver being hoisted on a meat hook in a Mussolini stylee.

Given the deadheads thread that is effectively a sweep on various public figures snuffing it I reckon those of us who like the high profile death of a public figure are in the majority.

More seriously, it is possible to hold racist or xenophobic views about some groups while not being racist at all in other areas of life or towards other ethnic groups. You get people who are anti-semitic but have no problem with black people, anti-asian black Americans are hardly rare and you get the same sort of thing in the UK too. If I argue with Mr I or other posters it is on the basis of what they write on here, I think everybody is probably a bit more moderate in real life but all you have here is the words, patterns of posts etc.

Clearly Mr Singh was a decent man who acted very bravely. I think Gighapoolie thought that comparing him to other "immigrants" was a bit of a shoddy way of making the same point, yet again, about a small minority of Muslim extremists.

Yep, along with all of their other many faults the miners were also buggers for losing priceless works of art.

My final word on this;

Am I racist; yes but only against certain types, these being Muslim extremists and young black thugs. The difference is that I believe that there are far more of these people around that most on this board give credence too. My views have been formed whilst living amongst ethnic communities in Nottingham and Leicester. I have the same distain for white scumbags. I have no problem with the vast majority of decent black families, Hindu's, Sikhs or Poles.

My point with the brave Mr Singh was that these are the sorts of people we should welcome into the country and not the likes of Omar Bakri and his ilk.

Would you get people to fill in a citizenship test before entry then? Something like-

1.Are you?

a) a young black thug with a love of knives.

b) a muslim extremist/terrorist.

c) a brave person who will leap to the defence of others and contribute a great deal to Britain.

2. Did you just say c) to trick us? We will check you know and you'll get a right telling off if we catch you lying.

That should stop the thugs and extremists except for the ones that were born in the UK and aren't immigrants at all.

The part that sounds like a pompous way of leaving an argument that you're in danger of losing. The part that is a bit like shouting abuse out of train windows after it sets off.
