Concurring. Big fan of Bowie's early stuff but after that he was only good in parts.

Indeed, a true music revolutionary. Arguably the most innovative musician in history.

Besides, no former new romantic could not like Bowie.

Liked him, more so the early obscure stuff like TVC15 and The Laughing Gnome. Went to see him at Roker Park in the mid 80's but it lashed down and he had to perform a scaled down version of his Spiders set for safety reasons.

I was at Roker Park to see the Glass Spider gig and thought
Bowie really adhered himself to the crowd when appearing late
on stage and welcomed everyone with "Good Evening Newcaaaastle"
The Man Fell To Earth from there on!

Also saw him at The Mayfair with Tin Machine (it was Nov 5th Pools were at home
v West Brom I think twas 0-0 correct me if I'm wrong please Mad John) was great to be
so close to such a rock icon but I'm afraid it seemed like a cacophony of noize to me!

Great early stuff and certainly innovative! I like him and is screaming out for a resurgence
of summat special!

Peter Frampton of wah wah whaaaaa whaaaa fame played lead guitar at Roker Park gig
by the way and was class!

Seen him in Nottingham about 95/96 ish at Rock City. It was an amazing experience. Bowie did a understated tour to very small venues, in this case it was one of the smaller rooms at Rock City. 150 people in the room to see Mr B with a guitar and no one else other than his lass on stage and she was only watching.

Well Aye.

Got the "Santa Monica '72" Double LP for Xmas.

Massive fan of the Ziggy/Aladdin Sane/Diamond Dogs era, then onto "Low" and "Heroes"...mind he hasn't made a REALLY good album since "Lodger" in 79.

There are moments on things like "Heathen" and "Outside" from the 90's but to me he's treading water...a bit like Kate Bush where one patchy album in 6 years does not a rock star make!

I know but.....................Kate Bush.................

I know someone who was a Bowie fan and never bought any records by anyone else over a period of years!! Mutely knows him as well

Clever and uniquely original musician and performer in his heyday, absolutely no question

Shirley Bassey's 73 today. Now her rendition of the theme to Goldfinger is a classic. rolfl

Not sure if I prefer that or Diamonds are forever. rolfl

And of course that all time great Hey Big Spender. rolfl

In 1970 she released the album Something, clappp which showed a new Bassey style, a shift from traditional pop to more contemporary songs and arrangements though she never completely abandoned what had been her forte, standards, show tunes, and torch songs.
