You can still do that but you'll just have to pay double. Worth it, though.

The keeping up with the Jones's Cuthbert club will be getting the flags out and waving their 20 quids in the air, that the pesents revolt didnt work.

The council are going to propose West Park as an alternative venue. Good idea in my opinion, it might attract an Aldi and a pub up there.
Perhaps an Urban dole office as well..................... bringing clerical work to the local housewives to stop them getting bored...................her next door is putting her name down tomorrow.

LOL, I can see shades of the time HEMLINGTON was a "new estate" and a nice place to live (albeit in Boro)

Bishop will soon be dragged down to earth.

Not by the "socially affordable" lot, but by the "I've now got cash but no class - meaning those with BS but without the recognition of hard work" lot, the new yuppie rules lol....not for long.... i'll give it 5 years!.....I can't wait!!!

Nimbyism word of the week. And to then add it was not about that, O yes it was if the social housing had been proposed to be built in another area of the town they wouldn't have been bothered.

Oi, You! of OO Nimby is an acronym of Not In My Back Yard. And therefore Nimbyism is the practice of objecting to something that affects one or takes place in their locality.

Thought I would add that before OO posts

What's Nimbyism sctatchinghead sctatchinghead

As he surely would.

Mr Bob, sorry, but you and many others are still completely missing the point.

Had the plans for the estate when these people were sold their houses included the latest plans they could and should have had no complaint. The problem is that they paid (over the odds in my opinion but that's another matter) a fair amount of money to buy a house in an area that they were told wold be surrounded by similar houses. Like it or not the area has a large effect on the value of a house and the value of their houses would have been reduced by the proposed change of plans to introduce a different kind of housing. Surely you can't reasonably think that is right or fair? Anybody claiming such is surely somebody with a slight amount of jealousy or doesn't own a house themself and therefore doesn't understand?

If somebody wanted to build something out of keeping with the area next to your house (e.g. a bmx track, a pub or a mosque) would you just say "OK, no problem" or would you try and stop it?

Its the same with windfarms or mobile phone masts, a case of "oh i think we should have more of them but not in my back yard"

Victory for the Bish Massive!

I am one of the objectionables who didn't want the area to become a social dumping ground.

Why is it a surprise that in an area where properties were sold without mention of this development, people have rightly raised concerns? We already have enough to contend with from frequent visits from the residents of that naughty boys home in Flint Walk. confised

I just didnt like the phrase "social dumping ground" that was used as though people in the cuthbert club are better people than others. Well the ones that go in the white house think they are. I was drinking with a mate in seaton golf club over Christmas then decided to go down town, we stopped at the white house as he wanted to see his mate, its the most crap pub in the town full of idiots above their station, and the pint was crap, stayed there for all of 10 minutes.

Now I'm with you there, but The Shite House Smuggies who stand outside under the heaters flashing their 37.5% APR Capital One Cards and their fake Ugg boots were there long before Bishop Cuthbert. You'll find a lot of those "Hartlepool Glitterati" are spread around the town, judging by the amount of Kias and Skodas that stay there all night...

I love the way everyone is dolled up to the nines to go and stand in a overcrowded crap sterile pub with flat beer. Would much rather go and drink in the warrior anyday of the week, better cheaper beer you can sit down everyone is a good laugh and has time for you.

Does the White House not have seats? Yes but they are all taken up by the orange / desperate housewives brigade.

Do people not laugh in the White House? Only at the people who they see as the riff / raff

The conversation (for the purists) in the W.H. usually resembles any of the following:-

a) So you dont mind taking Hiedi to the gymkhana then?

b) So I rammed the 4wd into top....

c) and they serve the worst lattes' in there...

d) I'd never pay less than £8 for a haircut...

e) and this scuffy chap came in and ordered pattie and chips, whats in a pattie again?

f) Would you believe the toilet paper was'nt folded on the corners.....

The majority of people who drink in The White House don't live near there and it isn't their "local" pub. FACT!

You said it was cheaper despite not knowing the price? I'd be surprised if it was cheaper myself. The beer in there isn't flat.

Surely the banter depends on who you're with?

The bar staff are also friendly in there.

The thing about the white house i find really funny is people who drink there think its a really nice pub and the "place" to be in Hartlepool, its pathetic, they look down on people who arnt regulars. The funny thing is that its a PUB! i have been in really nice places in oxford london liverpool etc were the people arnt like that at all. The Hartlepool "A-list" love it in there and think theresome for drinking the establishment.

That whole post makes you sound like a sad little man with low self esteem.

And I very, very rarely venture into the White House by the way, before you assume that I'm defending myself for drinking there.

Hope that helps.

Not at all and if you know me or have met me you know thats not the case. I just dont like sterlie places with soulless people in them. Would rather have a great laugh than stand in some awful gaff, I appriciate that people might like it and fair play to them not my cup of tea. I had a better night in the studio and the clarry than i ever would have in the white house

You want to be very wary of people who attend both mosques and BMX tracks. Dangerous people, and a threat to our very way of life - whatever that is. And while we're generalising, I often find that people who only talk about their house as an investment (rather than, say, a home) tend to be slightly dull and shallow conversationalists.

I find it difficult to believe anybody could pray to Allah in a safe manner from a BMX bike

I didn't say that you were like that, I said that post makes you sound like that. Although as I think somebody else said, surely it's you and your company who determine whether you have a "great laugh" as opposed to the surroundings?

And for the record, The Clarendon and The Studio are more my cup of tea too, been drunk in them both on many occassions. Chuck in King John's too for the cheap booze and we're ready to rock.
