I reckon weve entered into another Ice Age, but the Government don't want to tell us incase we stop paying our National Insurance, and start collecting seacoal again, as nobody will be able to pay their fuel bills in the next quarter.

they can fu-ck off if they want more money off me on my monthly budget payments. I tell them what I've used anyway - I never, ever let the meter man in
I got caught out last month when I answered the door to him!!!
I said, "The bloke who lives here has gone out and I was watching the house while he's out, but the dog might go for you if I let you in to read the meter. I daren't get hold of the dog like so you'll have to call back."

Ha!ha!

I phone in the readings myself.
I have a reason for doing this - until the readings I give to them slowly catch up on the real readings. This is cos I was on a default tariff and used about six months worth before I realised. So I'm hijacking a load of gas and electric units I used at the high tariff, into the contract low price tariff.
I would have owed them an extra 700 quid otherwise!!!
It's going to take a lot longer though, the amount of gas I've had to use recently!!
The energy companies love this weather, and so do the Govt - they get their increased tax take because of higher usage

Good thinking!!

I'm using £20 quid a week on gas at the moment, old house, prepay meters, it's an expensive game, can't wait to welcome to the board out of here in april!

I did something a little similar a couple of years ago when the prices first started to go up. I phoned in a git high reading for gas and electric so they billed me for having already used it at the lower price and I paid them what they thought they were due. Now I'm slowly letting the real readings catch up and paying the old lower prices for what I'm using now.

[ x ] board genius fails to spot that most energy suppliers reduced their prices last year and he has actually paid more. rolfl

[ x ] Self proclaimed cleverst fella in world doesn't realise that last year's reductions didn't take the prices back below the levels they were before the rises of several years ago when I paid up and makes a bit of a tit of himself. stpid rolfl

Picture scene Sat Jan 1st '10', 9.15am, post full lash session, knock, knock, I wake (the dragon dead to the world, as per normal),who can that be?, New Years day, must be the rozzers, cars been broken into, family grief, opens door to be met by green suited Meter-plus man, dont know what my face was like (as I did'nt have a Sky camera-yuk,yuk) I mumble the words "youre having a fuppin laugh", me stood there dishevelled pyjama bottoms plus obligatory semi, he cowers sorry mate, then proceeds to ask question only a dimwit would "have'nt got u up have I".

Luckily car is hard up against garage door (which he needs to be in to read meters), "I'd have to move car back mate for you to get in", proceed back thru' house and suggest shouting figures through the garage door to him which he agrees to- RESULT.

so you said you done it a couple of years ago, which would have been 2007.

and you have shown us a graph confirming the following year that prices went down.

and you have saved money by paying a big chunk off at 2007 prices.

great work einstein.

ive got a suitcase needs taking to china next week. have you got a passport ?

So if I gave a high meter reading at the end of 2006 or beginning of 2007 I'd have paid which prices? That's right, the 2006 ones because I gave them the reading when they notified of an upcoming price increase (that's before the increases took effect).

I'd be careful with that suitcase if I were you, you'll probably end up taking it yourself and only realising your error when it's too late...
