I would introduce video replays for the referees. At least in the big games...cup finals etc

Former goalkeepers would not be allowed into football management

i would stop the ridiculous wages. In turn that should allow clubs to reduce ticket prices and return football to the fans.

letting the defenders "guide" the ball out for a goal kick when it clearly obstruction and they dont have control of the ball.

Players getting booked just because they have removed an article of clothing in celebration.

It's a stupid law. banghead

Also, match bans being increased for players who are thought to have appealed "frivolously".
rage

It's a punishment to those who are trying to fight wrong decisions in my opinion.

i have noticed a new one lately that referees bottle out of making a decision. If a striker is chasing down the keeper, the defenders are allowed to block or shoulder barge the striker out of the way. Whats all that about?

What other articles of clothing has a player ever removed except his shirt?

If someone removes shorts, boots, socks etc then he deserves getting booked for being a prat.

Just say shirt man!!

Im not a fan of video technology for football but some of the other ideas in this thread are well worth implementing. The over celebrating bookings are the daftest as some get booked for even crossing the line & yet others get away with jumping into the crowd. There was one booking Alun Armstrong got for celebrating a goal for us at Scunthorpe when he got pulled towards the fans by his team mates & yet he was the one that got booked! Stupid rule!

Teams should play in their traditional colours (home shirts) unless their is a genuine clash when playing away. No more watching pools play in orange when away to Swindon etc!

everything else will follow when the money issue gets sorted out.
Years ago the likes of Clough could build his title winning sides at Derby and Forest, because he got players to believe in winning something. Going to Man Utd back then would only have earned them maybe a few extra quid - and long term their careers would suffer because they wouldn't possibly get picked as often as they would under him.
Also Clough could make players 50% better than possibly any other manager around back then - no guarantee of that at Old Trafford in them days.
Imagine a title winning team of internationals at, say, Leicester today?
No, me neither - but 30 years ago it was perfectly possible through pure good judgement and good management. Money has ruined football as a competition, period.
You can see why the old school tie brigade at rugby union kept the sport amateur for so long - sport in its purest form. Anybody wanting to make real money at that game had to switch to RL. Not sure if it's been such a bad thing for RU overall, but then again they don't earn the obscene amounts of money that footballers do.

After reading cloughs book parmo i had exactly the same conversation with my brother, what he done at derby and at forest will never ever again be repeated, it's a shame.

Parmo, I cant believe all of the shite thats been written on this thread, when the one major thing wrong with the game is the money that certain clubs get to the detriment of everyone else.

Bingo!

When the Football League was established way back in 1888 the overwhelming concern of the founders was that big city clubs would be able to use their catchment areas to bring in more supporters, generate more revenue, and dominate the league year on year. They thought such a league would soon get tedious and would never grow. That is why they built in, from day one, the principle of gate sharing. The home and away club took an equal share from every football match, with a small percentage being set aside for distribution throughout the entire league. The league thrived under this system to the extent that it expanded from 12 teams to 92 teams within 35 years. Eras came and went as no single club (or even small groups of clubs) ever dominated the game for too long a period. That was ended in the 1980s when certain clubs decided they had had enough of fairness and competition and used threats to get gate sharing abolished, and the attendance pot reduced and then scrapped.

Guess which clubs

That was the time that the league began to break apart as those clubs, seeing that they could get away with it, continued to use threats of breakaway to harvest more and more of the game's money. Then they broke away regardless.

Yet you still get people who "support" these clubs from afar and claim to be football supporters. rolfl stpid rolfl

Change one thing? Rewind 25 years and stop gate sharing and the attendance pot from being scrapped. Everything else - the Premier League breakaway, the nonsense that is the Champions League, weakened sides in cup (and now league!) games - all of that has snowballed from there.

I'd book all those who participated in 'Rehearsed' Goal celebrations....HATE THEM!!!! rage rage rage

I'd also deduct points for blatant cheating and for clubs whose players constantly argue every Referee decision and surround him!!!! rage rage rage

I'd also deduct points for rarfs who point at their watches wanting less or on some occasions more time added on!!!! rage rage rage

What about introducing a rule as in horse racing, that is if you win one week the next your 3 top players have to carry 3lb extra, therefore Jermaine Beckford would be carrying 8st 6lb in his next outing, then even Richie H could run him down.

I'd pay to watch that.

Following on from Mr John's post, as it seems to late to go back, I'd say just fook them off to the European League which is where they and the TV cash will end up anyway. Do it now. You only have to look at the Scottish League to see where two team domination leads and now we have Chelsea and M..no I can't say it. My fingers won't type it..

The longer we wait, the worse it will get.

I do think the FL do a decent job like. We just need rid of the FA.

The terwatts.

Even simpler thing to bring back.....the ball goes out for a goal kick on the left it's took from the left, so goalkeeper's can't walk to other side of goal to waste time.

And soft players can't wear short sleeve shirts with long sleeve underneath and gloves on........what the F*** is that all about.

And boots have to be black, with maybe a white strip, none of this blue, green yellow boots.

Goalkeeper's have to wear same colour shorts and socks as the rest of the team. And they only allowed Green or yellow none of this gay pink etc.
