Just been on a Charlton mesage board

Asked for a bit of info & they are a pleasant enough bunch,happy to tell us what we need to know

The question

As youve probably guessed Im a Hartlepool fan making the trip to The Valley next weekend.
If its okay with you guys I got a couple of questions about getting there.
The plan is
1 - Tube to London Bridge
2 - Train from London ridge to Charlton station
3 - Walk to The Valley

My understanding is that Charlton station is in Zone 3 so a zone 1,2,3 travelcard would suffice.I have an Oystercard,but last season couldnt use it from London Bridge to scumwall,do any of you guys know if this is the case with the southeastern trains ?

Last but not least when I get off at Charlton station how am I fixed for a couple of pints before the game ?
There will be a handful of 40 year old blokes who are happy to have a beer with your fans & are not in the slightest bit interested in any kind of trouble.

Interesting that they have come up with 3 different spellings for the same pub, but it is a little unusual. Looks like the first one is right........

There is a conservative club just round the corner, (opposite the train stop) i say stop as oppose to station! good cheap beers, and a friendly enough bunch. nice ground as well !!

I was in the Antigallican before our Carling Cup game there about 4 years ago. I was working down there and was on my tod. I arrived early and was talking to an old local geezer at the bar. Within the next half an hour the place was teeming with Poolies, some had travelled down and some were ex-pats. Everyone was up for it and there was a great atmosphere. Loads of smiling Poolie faces. I was so proud of my townsfolk and the geezer at the bar told me he'd never met a more likeable and friendly bunch of supporters in the 40 odd years he'd been drinking in there.

I love away days like that me.

I slept in the back of a cable pullers van that night!! Mind you it was cleaner than the house they were all kipping in!!!

I was in that pub before the game and, you're dead right, the atmosphere was terrific

probably my fooker and youd be right much cleaner than the house but you can only squeeze 12 in a tranny, you can get 24 cable pullers in a 2 bedroomed terrace :laugh:
