NO you F***** weren't they were in the same division for a reason.

So much bigger in the first season you joined them they finished 20 points and 10 places below "little" Hartlepool

No ulterior motive have to admit Beech had slipped my memory (old age). But Lee leaving and saying for the so called bigger club which at time were in same division as us has always stuck in my throat. Nelson close for having dig for the same reason.

He went on strike because of his agent (David Speedie?) and refused to play for us i believe. Cant remember the full story but someoen else will.

Jack Ross' comment that "even if Hartlepool were in the Champs League, i wouldnt go back" takes some beating mind. What exactly went on there??

can't delete post now I've copied the quote. The thread is JUDAS of the century so we go back 100years. so doesn't matter when Beech left,its century not decade.So basically I WANTED THE BIGGEST JUDAS in our history

Unless someone names a player as a Judas who left in 1908, the year we were formed. Then that would be outside the century

The only better quote I can remember was the bloke who said that his time at Pools was "like being held hostage". That was, erm, Jack Ross!

I love the team photo for the start of the next season, jack ross stood in the back row, totally in a huff, he had a face like a 5 year old told he can't have any sweets.

Did Ste Halliday leave under a cloud or is that me just inventing it?

I know he was gunna go to sunderland but they wouldnt pay the tribunal fee or summit.

Peter Reid did try to sign him in the summer of 1996. He offered £50,000.
