off you all go

Dimi's penalty save as it went to sudden death in play off semi against Tranmere.

Then Dimi's save from the Darlo deflected free kick to keep it at 0-0

Dimi against I think Donny where he was full stretch to fingertip the ball away in front of their fans as well who all started to celebrate the goal, the picture in the mail showed how good it was

Flinders away at Oldham, last 5mins and 3-0 up, shot from the edge of the box into the top corner and he got the smallest of touches to knock it against the bar/post.

A truly world class save, especially considering the game was won. The lad is desperate to keep clean sheets and we will keep a lot more with this lad inbetween the sticks.

i think Smythe got a fright when i jumped up and celebrated the save like it was a goal for Pools. top drawer clappp

Can't beat that Mr Bob. I remember our kid saying 'bloody hell!!' several times about a minute later when Ritchie hit the net and I just stood there with my mouth open. On Merseyside an' all...

One of the finest moments. clappp clappp

I sometimes wondered last season when ALB was hiding behind his wall at free kicks.

Provett made 2 top draw saves in one game, very good shot stopping.

You may be thinking of Williams there, he made a double save, against York I think, that was voted North East save of the season.

Andy Collett's save at Feethams was the best save I have ever seen.

Was it Dimi who made a great double save when we were on the box against Rochdale (?)

Jan Budtz made a fantastic save at Cheltenham away 2 seasons ago, approx 30 minutes after throwing the ball in the back of the net to make it 1-1.

I've saved myself several hundred pounds not bothering with games and I think these decisions have proved to be wise in 90% of cases.

One of the best goalkeeping displays I have ever seen was the young lad Duncan away at Man U in the Youth Cup. Very surprised he never made it.

Just watched this again

He must have had a hell of a % penalty saves for us. There's 8 on this clip.

Over to MJ for the exact % ration of saves to penalties faced.

Im not saying it wasnt a great save cos i aint seen it and not talking about your post inparticular but it always amuses me when people think the best saves are ones where the keeper tips in onto the post/bar. It looks spectacular but it would be a better save it the keeper tipped it round the post/bar??

If the same shot came in and one keeper tipped it round the post and one tipped it onto the post then the commentators and fans etc would all claim the one where it hit the post as the best save. Always puzzles me that.

Surely you have to treat each case individually. Sometimes a keeper might only be able to tip a ball onto a post because he is at the very limit of his reach, while he might get more of a hand to a shot that is slightly closer to him (and an easier save?)

Agreed, but half the time he will have been at full strecth because of poor footwork and not reacting quickly enough? Just amuses me that ... save onto post=magnificent.
