Cross Fell

Anyone know of an easy-ish route to Cross Fell?
One that doesn't involve hiking dozens of miles, i.e.

its been a long time since i was on cross fell, but i think the quickest route is from the village of knock, ascending the road (not public) that goes to the summit of great dun fell, a jaunt along the ridge to cross fell and there you are, return the same way. The snow will be class up there at the mo, take some skis :coool:

That's what I suspected, reverand.... at least a 12km round trip. I'll have to embark on a fitness regime first!

Ey Miss Grabey.........don't you be trying to walk up Cross Fell. Find a nice hotel nearby, send Mr Grabey up there on his own while you sip iced mint tea.......you know it makes sense.
