I wouldn't know, I've not heard it, and with a bit of luck I never will.

I done me radio show this morning, Christmas special by request, they don't really do Baby Jesus here, but I played:

Do They Know It's Christmas - Band Aid - story about Live Aid an' tha..'
Stop The Cavalry - Jona Lewie - bit wank but told the story about the soldiers in the trenches
Driving Home For Christmas - Chris Rea - tells the family thing when you travel a lot
Fairytale Of New York - takes the piss out of the greedy micks
Merry Xmas Everybody - Slade - Simply good bouncy piss taking fun
Merry Christmas baby - Chuck Berry - sublime blues and a lovely riff off 'White Christmas' in the bridge.

Producers were blown away, so they want to another Christmas show in two weeks.

Five days after Christmas......still, Braintree will be doing their 'lights on' ceremony that day won't they?? sctatchinghead

Invitation and pure talent!!

Added to which, no-one understands a bleedin' word I say, but they like the music. I've been asked to write an article for the news team, to be translated into Chinese, about how I feel about broadcasting to an audience that doesn't understand me. Any tips gratefully received!!

The X-Factor single is release by Sony. The RATM single is released by Sony. Simon Cowell is part of Sony. Why bother?

That's the exact point. Everyone in the campaign on facebook knows that Rage are signed to epic, a division of Sony but it's not about that, it's the fact that xfactor rubbish is taking away any surprise or race for the xmas number one.

29p is worth that surely?

As of today Killing in the name is in front by around 40,000 copies, considering it's not available on CD anymore that's good going against a single that's got the biggest hype machine in the UK behind it.

So let me understand this for a second;

These people are complaining that Cowell has too much influence and by generating interest through his programmes, people are buying the record?

So in order to stymy him they are generating influence through a Facebook programme so that people will buy the record?

And rather than everyone buting what some bloke on TV says they should buy, these 'protesters' are asking people to buy what they tell them to buy.

And thats progress is it?

The 'protesters' are basically trying to tell people what to buy, just the same as the X Factor hype machine is doing.

It's all a bit of fun, and a lot of the group have donated to Shelter. RATM are donating their proceeds to a UK childrens music charity and to Shelter too.

The protest may be a bit silly but it's for a good cause, the reason I bought it was after Cowell's comments saying Joe McElderry DESERVES Christmas number one. Based on singing someone elses music for a few weeks? Xfactor is shite and it's about time someone gave people a chance to vote against the show rather than just single acts in the show.

The link to the charity is on this page, if you don't agree with buying the single then donate your 29p to help homeless people:

http://www.ratm4xmas.co.uk/

Have a lovely Christmas

I voted against the show every time it was on simply by not watching & I didnt need a facebook group to tell me to do it,I thought of it all by myself

Yes,but I still dont see the difference.
The X Factor is pretty much insignificant as far as Im concerned,I dont watch it or take much notice of it,but it doesnt bother me in the slightest if somebody else does.

The difference is so obvious that if you don't know what the difference is there's nothing to be gained by trying to explain it to you.

As for whether the X Factor bothers you, that's you but there are at least 800,000 people who ARE annoyed at what the X Factor represents.

I'm buying a Rage download. Not that bothered about the band, never bought anything of theirs before, never downloaded anything before, but I detest the X factor and this is a way to make a point. Yes, they may both be with Sony but X factor shite is killing music and I'm surprised a man with good sense and music taste like Groovy cant see this. A vote against X factor and manufactured music shite should always be worth giving for the sake of music the world over.

But isnt this campaign just giving X factor more publicity ?
All those who buy the RATM are people who would never buy X factor anyway, its likely that there are people who are now going to buy X factor as a protest against the protest & then there are people who dont pay the charts any notice will now be more aware of the X factor than ever because they want to know who won this battle

20m people watched the final, I reckon everyone knows about it anyway. This is just a bit of fun to give it some competition for once.

£47,628.70 raised for charity so far, and the single proceeds for each song go to charity too, no matter which one you buy you'll be doing some good. You could argue that the campaign has made xfactor fans buy more copies, more money for charity then.

I seriously don't see a downside to all this, surely it's just some festive fun in the name (see what I did there?!) of a good cause or 2

Well i'm not posting on this thread and making a comment because i don't care. So there.

And i think the best song this year and indeed for the last 30 years is "TV cabinet" by The Wash-house light-bulb sockets, nobody on here has heard of them but they are cool. They are on next week at the boilermakers club. 87p a ticket.

Be there or be square.

talk about deluded.

you mugs are simply being ripped off by a genius piece of spin by cowell and his cohorts. he has a mediocre pop star he somehow has to flog to the public and a shyte single to sell. without this piece of gimmickry the latest x factor winner would have got to number one but not sold as many records as the last couple of winners.

thanks to all the free publicity the xfactor winner will sell a shedload of records. as will another of sony's artists. the fact the facebook site was actually started by cowells lot it just shows how thick the british public are.

at least the geordie kid has some integrity. rage against the fooking machine are typical middle class mummys boys. grow a few dreadlocks and spout some crap about hating the man and global capitalism. then signing a deal with one of the biggest and dirtiest companies on the planet.

fook you i wont do what you tell me.... unless its its advertising spin concealed within a social networking site. in which case i will leap over the cliff with the rest of the lemmings.

I'm sorry, I know I should be conciliatory about this, but I can't be. The post above is complete nonsense.

Where has anyone stated the expectation of this is stop the X Factor?

You appear to be implying that the Facebook Group creator is a plant by Cowell.

And you have the temerity to call us halfwits?
