Regarding China.

Following my trip to HK last year I have gotten it into my head that I dont want to go on holiday in Europe again and want to do the far east. Next year I am off to NY for a week to see uncle which means I have two weeks left and was thinking of locations to go and china popped into my head as went to Macow when was in HK but thats like Vegas. Anyway i normally but the rough guides etc and have a scout around the literature of a country before going but I thought I would ask you being a local.

Basically for a newcommer to the country were would you recommend to visit and what to do?

From what I can gather you can't go to China without visiting at least one of their major cities and beating dogs in the street with sticks.

Hope that helps.

Compo, not wanting to Pish on Spenders bonny or out ! but have you looked at South Korea?, if you like Spain and portugal etc you will hate it ! but if its culture, unusual, and you like food, drink and mountains. then it can be an experience. i have discovered that there seems to be no in between people litteraly either love it or hate it.

Not sure I'd bother with Macau though, its Monte Carlo with slanty eyes. If you do go there then you'd better have very deep pockets.

If you want to see proper China send us a PM. Hong Kong and Macao have very little in common with mainland China. It's a massive country that has everything somewhere.
