I am currently holed up in a Premier Inn in Carlisle over the road from the scene of our latest shambolic defeat. I can't sleep so I am gonna share my disappointment with you all. Lucky you's!

Being that this game has cost me £70 in fuel.....£67 in hotel and meal.....£20 into the match and £3 for a programme I think I need some payback and ranting will make me feel better.

So....

The first five minutes......superb! 2 Corners.....3 attempts on goal and one of them scored. Thought we were in for a good night. The snow gets heavier....the wind gets colder and I lose the feeling in my feet and nose. Carlisle come back into it and some very nervy defending sees us survive.

The equaliser. The wind can claim a big assist as it swirled the ball into the 6 yard box...Flinders flaps a little bit, there is an almighty scramble and the softest and scrapiest of touches by Harte sees the ball trickle in slow motion over the line. Deep joy. Still, no sign of the shambles that was to follow. Half time...reasonably happy with the performance so far and with the wind behind us....

I retake my seat for the kick off and unbelievably the snow has almost stopped and the wind has died dramatically.....can you believe it??

Some woeful defending sees us go 2-1 down and then Matty Robson (who is still sh**e) fooks up yet another cross and this one loops over the keeper and into the net. Same as a goal he scored for us down at Brentford in the Scotty relegation season I think. He seemed almost too embarrassed to celebrate. Things in Carlisle must be really desperate when the locals sing his name......

But just when you think things can't get any worse.......the substitutions. Boyd and Bjornsson off for Foley and Frederiksen??? WTF was that all about? Somebody who shall remain nameless isn't losing the plot, it has been lost . We show no fight until the final 5 minutes when Monkhouse makes it 3-2 and then we are denied a blatant penalty for handball. Not that we would have deserved a point on the 2nd half display but I would have taken it.

And after all this I get back to the hotel to find us higher up in the league by one place?

Not gonna rate all the players performances, I hate slating players cos these guys are still my heroes whilst they wear a Pools shirt but...

Hartley - is he allergic to passing to a Pools player? Never picked one out all night. Reminds me of Paul Arnison.
Sweeney - Never has a footballer gone backwards so much in so little time. Not a patch on the Sweeney under Cooper. Totally anonymous for the whole game.
Boyd - has to try the spectacular or neat looking flick every time he has the ball. Simple will do for a start...just to make sure.

I hate to say it but whilst the current management team are in charge we are going to start sliding down the table very soon. Make no mistake, Carlisle were poor - for 5 mins in the first half and 5 in the 2nd we were pretty good. shame about the other 80.

And to top it off my mobile receives a text a little while ago. Brown is out for 3 months
